Book Review: Wow, this is actually plausible

David Staume, who has a web site called Modern Philosophy, has written an excellent book on what to expect in the afterlife. Whether he truly believes that or not I am not sure (his next book is "Atheist Afterlife" an afterlife using the laws of physics so perhaps he does believe in an afterlife???), but it is sure written in a manner that is quite convincing- and thus makes it really plausible. The ton of analogies he has used to support this concept of an afterlife in this book are actually analogies that could be used in philosphical discussions in regards to dualism, so I found it quite exciting that I not only was able to enjoy a work of fiction and imagination but I was also able to gain insight that can make compelling arguments during a philosphical conversation.
The book as implied by the title, is mainly an explanation of what the afterlife entails and how perception is different from the physical world and the astral world, astral world being the location of the deceased. Not only does the good qualities carry over to the afterlife, but so do the bad. Whatever dominates your inner world in the phyiscal world will be a reflection of what you are in the afterlife. No longer would it be easier to hide ones prejudices, the ignorance is now worn like a coat and free to be seen by the other astral bodies. However if you were a person of good moral qualities, then the outer reality of your astral body will reflect that, and thus be seen by all astral bodies as well. This was the part that I liked most, the fact that all that is really taking place is a transition of worlds, a transformation of perception but not of personality - where the individual still can grow, still can learn, and can still improve ones own character. If the afterlife is real, this is what I envision, a living world for dead people.
