Book Reviews of The Best Make-Ahead RecipeBook Review: Fabulous Cookbook From A Cookbook Collecter Summary: 5 Stars
I have well over 200 cookbooks. I purchased this cookbook because I love cookbooks of course and I love the publication Cook's. If you have to have color photographs this book is not for you. But it is so well illustrated in black and white that you cannot miss a trick with it.
Very well illustrated and a great reference book. I would suggest all in the series for a beginner cook too. I LOVE it. I can honestly say that I do not have a cookbook in this catagory. It is truly worth the money and should be in every cooks library.
Book Review: The Best Make Ahead Recipes Summary: 4 Stars
As someone who is just now returning to the kitchen after a very long break, I love having a cookbook that helps me to prepare dishes on one day and cook it the next. I've spent many days getting ready for a dinner party, where I was frazzled and exhausted by the time my guests arrived. With this new book, I have been able to prepare a gourmet meal, rest and relax for the rest of the day, and cook the meal, welcome my guests and enjoy myself the next day. The recipes are somewhat elaborate, but hey, why not, when you don't have to entertain the same day!
Book Review: Even as a long-time foodie I learned a ton from this cookbook Summary: 5 Stars
This cookbook's recipe's come from this magazine's test kitchen, which is nice enough, but what I find most valuable is they explain why certain techniques seem to work better than others, which is generally useful knowledge that you can take away from making a recipe out of it. Or just reading it, actually.
We've been into slow cooking in the winter here, since it makes the house so warm and welcoming, and this book's focus on that is another bonus. But the recipes also work in a pressure cooker for those in a hurry.
Book Review: You'll Want to Read the Details Summary: 4 Stars
This is my first cookbook in the Cooks series and I would consider purchasing more. The divisions are helpful, and there is a generous number of recipes under each division. I've tried only a few, but each was as promised with one exception, each recipe I tried resulted in more servings then was indicated. I'm glad I took the time to read the pages about the testings that precede each section, they contain tips that I can use with many of my recipes.
Book Review: So Much To Do!!! Summary: 5 Stars
Who has time to cook these days?!? I know I don't - so we eat a lot of 'soup and sandwich' dinners - and not homemade soup - I'm talking canned!!!
So any time someone comes up with make-ahead recipes - that taste as good as the real thing - or better - then I am sold!!!
And if you are familiar with Cook's Illustrated - and the other 'Best Recipe Classics' you know you won't be disappointed!!!
