I love Scarpetta! Can't wait for the next one. There is a plot inconsistency here, though...Scarpetta asks for the body farm experiment **before** she sees the strange mark on the girls' leg in the photos. How can this be? Also, there was no way that a reader could have suspected Munchausens' by proxy on their own. Usually when I read a Scarpetta novel for the second or third time (as I usually do!) I can pick up on clues that I missed earlier. They are so subtle! But in this one, all of a sudden Scarpetta suspects the mother, for no apparent reason! Also, I think that Ms. Cornwell needs to go back a couple of novels and fill in some blanks for us regarding the relationship with Mark and Kay. At the end of one novel they were going to go skiing. Then in the next one, absolutely no warning or transition! I feel cheated. Did they really get back with each other or did they just dance around the "relationship" like in previous books? I do like Lucy, except that she has too many problems for us to focus on: she should be either alcoholic or lesbian but not both! I feel like a doting aunt myself, watching her grow up through the novels. I feel compassion for her, how is she going to stay in the FBI when she is a lesbian? It also is not clear how much Benton knows about Lucy, either... Isn't his position in jeopardy also because of Lucy? Can't wait for the next one when we find out... END
