Book Review: Book Two of the Mickey Haller Series
Summary: 5 Stars
I think Michael Connelly is best known for his Harry Bosch, but I never could warm up to Bosch. I'd given up when a friend recommended THE LINCOLN LAWYER and I was immediately hooked. Connelly has created a likable character out of a criminal defense attorney. That takes talent!
When I discovered that Mickey Haller would be sharing the spotlight with Bosch in this book, I was seriously disappointed at first. To my relief, Bosch was a secondary character and BRASS VERDICT digs deeper into Haller's character, making this my favorite of the two books. Even so, I recommend readers start with THE LINCOLN LAWYER.
Mickey Haller has been on leave recovering from a gunshot wound and an addiction to pain medication. No sooner did he start back when a lawyer friend of his was murdered. Haller inherits his cases with the biggest being to defend a prominent studio executive who is accused of murdering his wife and her lover.
The murder of his friend introduces Haller to the lead detective Harry Bosch. They are on opposite ends. But when Haller's life is in danger, Bosch is there. Haller will come to realize they both will have more in common than this case.
I just love the Mickey Haller series. The murder trial was intense and I had no idea who the murder was until close to the end. I pray I won't have to wait so long for the next installment!
