Book Reviews of The Chase

Book Review: Typical Cussler
Summary: 5 Stars

Once again Cussler did not dissapoint. I was kindof iffy on the whole early 20th century detective thing, but Clive has done it again. As typical in any Cussler novel, this one will keep the pages turning until the wee hours of the morning. I would recommmend it to anyone who has ever picked up an adventure book before, it goes without question that anyone who likes Cussler's work will fall for this series as well.

Book Review: One of Cussler's Best Reads
Summary: 4 Stars

You could say that the hero is a little too perfect, the plot a bit far-fetched and the dialogue not always natural. And if you'd focus on those faults, you'd be missing the big picture, which in this case is an interesting, throughly enjoyable, thrilling story with lively and colorful characters. In other words, The Chase is about entertainment - capital E. So buckle up and enjoy this early-20th-Century ride!

Book Review: Worst Cussler book ever
Summary: 1 Stars

I picked this up in the airport as it was a Cussler only title and not one of the awful Cussler collaboration titles. I suspect this might be a short story that Cussler wrote very early in his career (high school?) and then decided to fill into a novel. As others have mentioned - errors and editing problems abound. I had to force myself to read to the entirely forgone ending.

Book Review: Hard to put down
Summary: 4 Stars

This was a very hard book to put down, because you never knew where Clive was taking you next. Since I live on Flathead Lake near Rollins, MT where the book ends up, it was especially interesting. Although not an historical novel, it seems like one and I found the details about the areas where the robberies took place and where the robber lived especially interesting.

Book Review: Non-stop entertainment
Summary: 5 Stars

While a departure from Cussler's norm, I found this to be a very energetic book, with a plot that had just the right pace. The characters were well fleshed out and Cussler's details were educational in places as well. I will confess that he went on about the protagonist's car in more detail that I needed, but that is a small minus in the midst of many plusses.
