Book Review: Not great, but surprisingly addicting

I picked up the book, with expectations that I would hate it and have an opportunity to write a review on a book that isn't great. Well, this thought wasn't complete wrong but I did find to like the book a lot more then I thought I would.
Massie was annoying and horribly shallow. I was disappointed that she didn't get more revenge against her. Her world was too perfect, and a person in my placement of this world, it felt completely unrealistic. Really, no house should have an intercome system. Not to mention how she is alway wearing designer clothes? It was extrememly hard to relate to her.
The rest of the clique? They're like the wind. My final opinion is that I do not like them. I let myself be open minded throughout the book, and despite the fact that you can see that they are real people and may have their hearts in the right place at times, they're still horrible character.
Alicia, is my least favorite. Rarely does she ever not act like a snob, and even worse, she never gets what she deserves. Even when its at the point where you might want to give sympathy to her, it is hard. More or less becuase she does not deserve it.
Dylan was probably my favorite of the clique girls. She was a little bit more real with her always munching away at some sort of food. Though she has eating disorder written all over her, the sign of being realistic was kind of a comfort. Plus I never thought of Dylan as a girls name, which I now find quite cute.
Finally, there is Kristian (I think I spellt this wrong, my appologies). My opinions are not very one way or another with her. She never seemed as bitchy as the other three and her "secret" further that within her.
Then of course, there is Clare. When first meeting her, she reminded me completely of myself when I was just a little younger then her. The blond hair with the bangs, powerpuff girl lunch box all painted the picture that I use to see in the mirror in front of me. This made it really easy to relate to her, which I believe is what the author was aiming for.
The storyline had some fun bounces in it. It flowed, it wasn't very deep, but it flowed. Through it was really dishearten by the loss of innocents within Clare. But hey, I'm reading a book about 7th graders. They're not going to be smart enough to make the right decisions. Also, I was deeply annoyed how everybody in the book was always lieing. Some do get punished for it, but I must question if it is healthy for younger girls to be reading a book where all the characters are chronic liars.
I will also warn, the ending is really anticlimactic. The meat of the book is much more interesting then the ending of the book. So do not expect much. This book was also a very light read. I was able to read it in about 5 hours.
Overall, I'd recommend this book if you have major patients for little kid drama and nothing better to do. It is annoying but for some reason, I could not put it down. But my advise, honestly, go read something better.
