Book Reviews of The Complete Little House Nine-Book Set

Book Review: Why Did I Wait So Long?
Summary: 5 Stars

I'd watched the television series over the years and thought I'd like to read the books, although I was kind of embarassed to tell anyone because they were considered to be written for children or adolescents.
These books are too good not to be read by everyone who is an American citizen - they are an account of how our forefathers (and foremothers) lived and struggled in wild, unsettled and sometimes dangerous "new" parts of our country.
It's difficult not to get personally involved with the Ingalls family and their friends. Their attitudes, their energy, their faith, their determination, their devotion to one another and willingness to help their neighbors has almost disappeared from our society today.
Perhaps they could remind us about what we lost while we were so busy becoming technologically advanced.

Book Review: Well loved books
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this set as a gift for a friend who loves the "Little House" TV series. She loves the books as well!

These books are a great historical perspective of life in the 19th and early 20th century United States. Young readers will surely enjoy them, but older folks would also enjoy these tales of "olden times".

There is so much more to the Laura Ingalls Wilder story that the television show portrayed. These books deal with Almanzo's early years and with the Ingalls and Wilder families before and after they lived in Walnut Grove.

There are other sets of Little House books available, but this is the complete set of nine books (some of the others sets contain fewer books). They are in a very sturdy cardboard box and were sent extremely well packaged.

A great choice!

Book Review: Wonderful stories of pioneer life
Summary: 5 Stars

After visiting the "Little Town on the Prairie" of De Smet, South Dakota, I decided it was time to finish the series which I had started reading as a kid. The books have lost none of their charm during the past 25 years. They are perfect for reading aloud to your children. There are plenty of adventures to keep boys and girls of all ages entertained. I found Mrs.Wilder's descriptions of the pioneer way of life very interesting. Her simple style of writing paints vivid images of prairie blizzards, swarms of grasshoppers, and wolves, bears and Indians. It has been a long time since I've enjoyed reading anything this much. One suggestion: don't read Farmer Boy on an empty stomach. The mouth-watering descriptions of the Wilders' meals (especially dessert) will sent you running to the refrigerator.

Book Review: 13 and Loving these Books
Summary: 5 Stars

Yes, I'm 13 years old and I still love these books. I've read all of the books from the beginning, starting with Laura's great-grandmother. I was hooked on these books from the very beginning of every book. I have often told my friends about these books and they all have read them. They all come to me and thank me for recomending these books to them because they thought the stories of Laura Ingalls Widler and her family were just awesome! The description of Laura's writing in these books about her life is just to good for words. These books are the type of books that once you start reading them you can't put them down. Starting with Laura's great-grandmother all the way to her daughter, there are 30 books. I own all of them and I am also almost done reading all of them.

Book Review: Precious
Summary: 5 Stars

Mothers, I implore you. Buy these books for your daughters! They will cultivate a true love of reading that will last forever. This book series means so much to me it's difficult to express. I grew up reading every book so fervently and would continue on with the next book in the same manner. The lessons I've learned from these books will be with me forever.
The book series describe a different time when people actually knew their neighbors and jam would never be purchased at a store. Laura is such an admirable character because of her courage, kindness, and creativity. The mistakes she makes also show her to be very real. The books do a stellar job of describing the American experience through the perspective of a young girl. I will forever cherish these books.
