Book Reviews of The Complete Little House Nine-Book SetBook Review: Boys will also love them as much as girls!! Summary: 5 Stars
I remember my teacher recommending these books for summer reading as a nine year old boy about 25 years ago. At first, I thought they would be "girls-only" reading. Am I glad I read "Little House in the Big Woods". These are incredible stories of adventure, happiness, joy, sorrow and the like. They often made me think of how families sustained daily life in the harsh American plains alomst 150 years ago. I am not a huge fan of fantasy literature; these stories could well have been typical life for so many families living on the frontier. I purchased this box set for my son as well as my niece and can't wait for them to experience this wonderful American journey!! Kids (or adults, for that matter) won't want to put these book down!!
Book Review: Aussie Reviewer Summary: 5 Stars
Having been a fan of Little House on the Prairie since childhood, and currently buying and watching the DVD's, I thought I would purchase these books knowing that the TV series was only partially based on the life of Laura Ingalls. I finished the set in 2 weeks, and thoroughly enjoyed them all, and I now wish that she had continued the full story instead of in dribs and drabs with her other books. There were things that I had never known before reading this set, and am carefully putting them aside until my daughter is old enough to read them. Younger children may not know what some described items were from back then, even I didn't and I'm 37, but with a bit of guidance, they will also be enjoyed by the younger children.
Book Review: a must-read book Summary: 5 Stars
i could still remember the very first day i read these books when i was about 10 years old. from the very moment, i fell in love with the fascinating stories. the courage, the morales, the wisdoms, and even their conversations all cast a spell on me at 10. now i am almost 30, and i am thinking about this series of books. what i read was chinese version, and i am very surprised that so many english-speaing readers love them also!!! i love this series of books. it is a series that every generation will fall in love with. i strongly recommend that every parent and parent to be should read this series with the next generation so that they could understand some good and unchangeable values of family and the world.
Book Review: Little House on the Prarie - Boxed Set Summary: 5 Stars
When I first bought thses books I was skeptical. When I have my daughter I can't wait to share these stories with her. I am forty two years old and I love these books myself. I am on the fifth book, and I constantly find them difficult to put down! These books are wonderful for children but at the same time are wholesome for everyone. I highly recommend these books. They are worth their weight, believe me. All I can say is that these wonderful stories have taken me back in time and to a place more simple and wonderful. I thank God in heaven for Laura Ingalls Wilder and the inspiration she received from God to write these books. Get them and I guarantee you you will be thrilled to the heart.
Book Review: Little House (9 Books, Boxed Set) Summary: 5 Stars
I am now 50 years old but discovered Laura Ingalls Wilder's "Little House" books when I was 9 years old and was immediately hooked. I remember reading "On the Banks of Plum Creek" through the night with a flashlight under the covers so I wouldn't be discovered. I eventually read all the books and even sought out her other writings as well. I now plan to buy the boxed set for my daughter, now age 8. It should be mentioned that the illustrations of Garth Williams, who also illustrated Charlotte's Web, add to the beauty and poinancy of all these pioneer stories. The illustrations are luminous, gentle and beguiling. These stories are truly a national treasure and I recommend them to anyone.
