Book Reviews of The Cosmic Serpent: DNA and the Origins of Knowledge

Book Review: Intriguing theory.
Summary: 3 Stars

Parts of this book were really interesting, and others were a bit tedious. Overall, the author's theory that Shamans are "seeing and learning" from plant DNA (that looks like snakes/serpents to them, hence the inordinate amount of ancient paintings that depict snakes) is certainly counter to conventional Western thought.

If you enjoy learning about alternative ideas, you'll enjoy this book. Who knows, it may be generally accurate -- Western science certainly can't explain the knowledge native Shamans have acquired.

Book Review: Blow your mind!
Summary: 5 Stars

This is one of the most thought provoking, mind expanding books I have read in the past decade. My five star rating is not based on ease of reading, the Cosmic Serpent reads somewhat like a school book and can be slow going at times. My rating is based on the way this book will stimulate thought. If you're looking for a book that will get your synapses firing, and make you evaluate your beliefs about afterlife, reincarnation, and the collective unconscious, I highly recommend this book.

Book Review: Passion, insight, the willingness to take intellectual risks
Summary: 5 Stars

I love to read books that move outside the flow of conventional thought; books that excite the imagination. Narby's passion for his subject is evident; you can almost hear him go Aha! at points in the narrative. Whether you end up agreeing or disagreeing with his remarkable conclusions, you are guaranteed to re-examine some of the most basic concepts that underlie the methods of Western science, and the conclusions those methods inescapably, and perhaps not always correctly, lead to.

Book Review: A big piece of the big puzzle.
Summary: 4 Stars

This book is one of those books that change the way you look at life and the world.
There is so much knowledge about the orgin of life that's disregarded by western science just because they don't understand it. Knowledge that comes from worlds that western science just doesn't grab.
This book is an excellent read for open minded people. Well and conservative narrow minded scientists too. But they will probably disregard it :)

Book Review: The bridge between science and metaphysics.
Summary: 5 Stars

Finally a book that describes what my intuition has always believed, that the DNA actually has a voice and a way to dialogue with the body. As a healer, I have always seen this as the voice of the higher self, the voice that holds the wisdom of the organisms wholeness and potential. This book scientifically tracks what healers have felt and tracked for centuries. I love books that bring science and metaphysics together.
