Who else could put together the love of flowers and make a metaphor for life? Linda Dominique Grosvenor, whom I had the pleasure of reviewing her premier novel "Like Boogie On Tuesday", Linda fails to disappoint, so you will always be pleasantly surprised. Bloom is no different, the story of an abandoned Military wife turned Florist, leads us down a trail of fancy and wonder as we all realize that life and people are much like a "garden".When I think of the characters I think of an array of lucious smelling bouquet, some exotic, some run of the mill and some that just plain don't fit in. The main character "Lily" so aptly named by her mother who loved flowers, finds herself at a crossroad that many women in their midlife are at, alone and somewhat content, until along comes a handsome stranger to stir things up. Her handsome stranger is catalyst to a life change that many of us are afraid to take. Lily venture's with trepidation into the arms of Alex a man twelve years her junior, something that is not an easy feat when you live in a small rural community. Driving with her brakes on Lily allows passion to take control and just as you get ready to enjoy this new romance "Bloom", here comes that "no good for nothing ex-husband" to wreck the newfound love. Ms. Miller someone whom Lily has known all her life is a nosy busy body, though well meaning is infamous for her warning and well meaning but unsolicited advice, we all know someone like her. A dear friend of Lily's deceased mother feels the need to continue to mother Lily though she is far from being a child . You can only imagine how difficult it is when her husband Barry Johnson emerges as an antagonist, who seems to want to rekindle what was lost. Well Lily is a woman with her own mind, and though worried about her May/December relationship, she is in the throngs of a "blossoming" love affair that could lead to unimagineable joy and pleasure. Ms. Grosvenor's characters especially the women are always strong and able individuals, something that lights a fire of passion in the heart of avid reader. She will do it again and again as you empathize and sympathize with her situational treatments of her ficitionalized families. There is only one thing I can say, that is you have to read it for yourself. The true essence is only evident when you experience the elegance and the simplicity of "Bloom" a novel about life, love and coming to terms with choices made and yet to be made. Make up your mind today to get your copy, you will be pleased and pleasantly surprised!
