Book Review: Very Helpful for Learning the Crowley Thoth Deck

Notwithstanding the historical error in the first sentence of this book, one that gets highlighted on its Amazon Description, this is a book that can be extremely helpful for the person who has acquired a Crowley Thoth deck and is not quite ready for his original text for the deck. It is debatable whether the beginner using this deck should go directly to Crowley's writings or use the Akron/Banzhaf compendium. I have decided that this is the book to recommend when starting out with the Thoth deck after teaching Tarot over a fairly long period.
Many previous reviews here point out the nice way the authors lay out Crowley's and Lady Freida Harris' work and this book's approach make it my choice for beginners. When starting out with a Crowley Thoth deck, this book is an excellent and comprehensive guide for understanding the extensive symbolism of this deck. Every card is fully described and the fluid, energetic art of Lady Freida Harris is explained very well. Some beginning and intermediate Tarotists also find value in this book, even if they are not working with the Crowley deck, because of its guide to mythical, mystical, and historical symbolism found in many tarot decks.
My experience with tarot students in a formal class is that they usually want MORE in their initial books rather than less - smile. This book certainly fits that requirement.
I also enjoy all of Banzhaf's tarot books -notwithstanding the historical error in the first sentence of this book.....smile
