Book Reviews of The Dangerous Days of Daniel XBook Review: I can't believe I bothered to finish this awful book Summary: 1 Stars
This book was the STUPIDEST book I've ever read. A 10yr old could write better literature. I'd say my 6yr old sister could write a better novel, but that'd be an insult to her intelligence. I'm a teen, but this book would be better geared towards babies. At least they wouldn't be able to understand it. Do not bother to read this book, do NOT buy this book, if you're wondering how awful this book can be and simply must read it, get it out of the library at least.
Oh, so you want to know what it's actually about? Fine. (Spoilers)
This book is about a boy named Daniel (go figure) whose parents die when he is 3, killed by a giant praying-mantis type alien (no imagination). Anyways, he somehow miraculously raises himself with his superpowers (basically he can do anything, but in this case he can use his imagination to make people & dismiss them). Skip forward 12yrs. Daniel is hunting an alien on a list that his parents had (did I mention they were alien hunters and that the mantis alien killed them for their top 20 aliens-to-kill list?)So he moves in near where the alien happens to live, rents a house, and decides to go to school for absoulutely no reason at all except that the author wanted him to have a traitor-girlfriend.(He's never gone to school before because apparently he's a super-genius.) Daniel goes home from school to find that alien cat messengers (the only interesting idea in the whole book) have come to tell him that the alien he's tracking down doesn't like being hunted. They destroy his house and leave. Daniel remakes the house with his mind and summons his family (did I tell you he made himself a sister named Pork-chop and several friends, one of whom he likes?)Next day, he meets his girlfriend (I forget her name, I've been trying my best to forget this whole book), who is upset because her sister went missing. Daniel promptly remembers that the very alien he's hunting happens to kidnap children and sell them as pets. For some reason, (I think the alien was threatening him again)Daniel sleeps over at her house (in her closet, at least it isn't bad in that respect). When he wakes up he discovers that he is captured in a giant alien spaceship and that his girlfriend was the very alien he's hunting (I guess this alien was a shapeshifter). Anyways, to make a long (and horrible) story short, the alien takes Daniel back to his(Daniel's)homeplanet, which the alien (of course) has ruined.(Suprise, suprise, D's an alien) Once there Daniel escapes and finds his people live underground with elephants (elephant's are aliens too!)He's overjoyed to find his true family and he celebrates, yadda, yadda, yadda. Okay... where was I? Oh, yes, D decides to have a faceoff with the alien (go figure). They fight together, D turns into a flea, crawls in the alien's ear (Did I tell you D could shapeshift, too?), turns into an elephant and whalla! alien guts everywhere. Everybody celebrates and D returns to earth to kill the other aliens on the list.
In other words, this book was awful. Thank you for letting me rant and rave and get my indignation out of my system. I'm going to go look in our medicine cabinet now and pray we have brainwashing liquid, I never, ever want to think about this book again. I hope my hatred of this book amused you, and hope that you'll listen to the voice of reason and STAY AWAY from this atrocious book.
By the way, his Maximum Ride series is okay, except for the last one, which is basically a global-warming pamphlet.
Oh, and comparing this to Harry Potter is like comparing a mountain to an anthill.
Summary of The Dangerous Days of Daniel XYes, it's true: Daniel X is special. X-traordinarily special.
He may be just a kid, but Daniel is strong enough to fight anything in the world. And it's a good thing, because not many guys you meet have a host of deadly criminals hunting them to the ends of the Earth. And none of them are extraterrestrials.
Daniel is the only one who might be able to eliminate every last intergalactic evil on the List of Alien Outlaws on Terra Firma. Because the greatest superpower isn't to be part spider and part man, or to cast magic spells - the ultimate gift is the power to create.
