Book Reviews of The Dice ManBook Review: take a chance Summary: 5 Stars
After I read the book myself I made the foreign student society in my dormatory swallow it and sold many copies of it. We had some unbelievable fun, until the darkside took over and slowly we returned back to a more normal, free society. Five years later the people concerned still call each other according the name adopted during this period. things that never happened before, happened daily. Creating a society like that was the biggest fun and my best memory in life.
Book Review: DEGENERATION Summary: 3 Stars
In the beginning I could not put this book down. It was intelligently and well written and full of promise. The concept of breaking away from traditional thinking experiences and pushing your personal boundaries further and further out was exciting. Good food for thought.Alas, by the middle of the book it became apparent that the dice were taking over authorship, and from then on the story slowly and steadily degenerated into a plotless mess.
Book Review: Genius. Summary: 5 Stars
I picked up this book after I bought the album "Slaughter of the Soul" from the Swedish melodic death metal band "At The Gates". Their album title, and lyrics are tied to this book. This is an excellent read. Still disturbing to this day. They way all the violence, rape, and thoughts are portrayed; you would have though it was written within the past 10 years. This is a great read for anyone who is into psych-drama movies, and novels.
Book Review: One of the best books I've ever read Summary: 5 Stars
I wonder if Luke is short for Lucifer (it's clearly a pen name). Rhinehart is a deer of the river Rhine. In the Niebelungen, Siegfried is chasing a deer on the banks of the river. Hot and thirsty, he stumbles upon a clear spring. As he kneels down to drink, the devil sneaks up on him and kills him. Could it possibly be that the "real" author of "The Dice Man" is alluding to the devil in his chosen pseudonym?
Book Review: The other reviews are CORRECT! Summary: 5 Stars
Yep, the other rave reviews before this one (minus a couple of people who didn't get it) are right. It didn't move me as much as some others perhaps (I wouldn't say it was the best book I've ever read) but was a fascinating and absorbing read. Also, rather remarkably it has dated very little. Perhaps it should be mentioned that it's quite sexually graphic in a couple of places, though, just in case your a bit squeamish.
