Book Reviews of The Diet CureBook Review: Nutrition Psychology That Gets Your Head Ready For Weight Loss Summary: 5 Stars
Leave it to someone like a "nutrition psychologist" to come up with the REAL reasons why we struggle with losing weight and then sharing the ultimate "cure" for dealing with this ever-present problem. Julia Ross does just that in this book by explaining quite methodically why we have actually conditioned ourselves through poor dieting habits and other destructive behaviors to keep ourselves from being successful.
Through a rather unique 8-Step Quick Symptom Questionnaire that tailors a plan for your specific needs, Ross arms you with ways you can take on the obesity monster by bringing back balance to your body and showing you how to eat best for YOUR body. We're not all the same, so applying a monopolistic dietary approach to everyone is silly.
She guides you through each of the steps of the "master plan" giving you tips and strategies for dealing with whatever obstacles you think might hinder you from completing this. Is it a "cure" for your diet woes? You'll never know if you don't give it a try!
Book Review: This book should get 100 stars. Summary: 5 Stars
After trying all the fad diets i.e. low fat, zone, atkins, etc and losing weight and then gaining it back..feeling sick and tired most of the time..I discoved this book. The whole problem of being overweight is not in the diet but in the brain chemical imbalances...I started following the progam and lost my appitite and started eating "normal" to small portions, because I WAS NOT HUNGRY, not because I was using willpower. I feel much better emotionally, I am much more alert and have achieved my correct weight without "dieting" I am actually angry that the "diet' books actually make you ill physically. When I read that you can mess your metabolism up to the point that you can gain weight on 700 calories a day...thats insane, but true. Dieting as we know it doesnt work and is insane. This is the ultimate book for a person who has weight problems. One understands the real reasons that your overweight instead of another new way to starve yourself and get weaker and sicker. A hundred star book.
Book Review: Website Update Summary: 5 Stars
When I first started reading this book some of their diet recommendations disappointed me so I stopped reading it. But after taking a second look and visiting their website I see that they have changed their mind and corrected almost all the things that were bothering me reguarding diet. Like what fats are healthy and that soy isn't so great after all. So please buy this book but make sure you take into account the changes they now recommend. This book needs to be have a new addition written with these changes because the very valuable information contained in this book needs to go forward in time. It needs to continue on but with accurate new information.
That being said, this book puts together all the pieces of my physical puzzle. I have found out some of the info contained in this book on my own through doctors who stumbled along and "dabbled" in my different problem areas. But they never connected the dots for me like this book did. It is facinating and brilliant and I think it will help me.
Book Review: It REALLY Works, Do not hesitate to buy! Summary: 5 Stars
First I'd like to say I'm not usually one to take time to review anything I've purchased even if I had positive results, but this book is an exception. I purchased this book about 5 years ago from a recommendation from another reviewer browsing diet books. I too, had problems overcoming cravings trying to restrict myself while on the South Beach diet, (phase 1) I could NOT get past the first day until I started with the supplements the author suggested according to my 'symptoms', results from the questionnare. Fast forward to 2010--I have since stopped 'dieting' & gained back some of the weight due to life changes but I know losing the weight again will be a piece of cake using the knowledge gained from this book. The author has done a superb job researching this material & it's not just about trying to lose weight but also 'fix' other chemical imbalances for a medly of addictions. It is worth every penny and CAN change your life, do not hesitate to buy!! Thanks Ms. Ross!
Book Review: I concur with Daino - Diet Cure works. Summary: 5 Stars
Ross includes a "symptom" questionnaire that helps individualize the rest of her text. I agree with Daino that this book is of great help to those of us who have done poorly in the past in the battle of the bulge. Another previous reviewer was concerned about dieters overdosing on the amino-acid supplements Ross recommends. However, I'm of the mind that people could get toxicity overdosing on anything. We need to be individually responsible for following the guidelines recommended by the manufacturer, AND we must purchase products from companies that have proven themselves to maintain quality and honesty. I purchase my various supplements from iHerb because they offer choices within their stock and because they also have links to documentation that explains what a supplement "does". Their service is excellent and I am going to e-mail them to link to this book. Ross has done a good job here and has earned the added advertisment.
