Book Reviews of The Digital Photography Book, Volume 3Book Review: Best for Users of Nikon CLS Lighting System Summary: 4 Stars
Narrowly directed at users of Nikon lighting systems, particularly the CLS system, the book provides a wealth of information and tips for taking excellent photos both inside and out using such Nikon lighting systems (flash). A question that perplexed this reviewer was how to override the pre-flash of the Nikon SB 900. It was effectively answered by the author; this is hard information to come by, and was not answered by the manual as far as I could determine. The SB900 manual is overall not very helpful; this book provides all the "how-to" one needs.
Book Review: Very Informative Summary: 5 Stars
Well after having read Volumes 1 & 2 I had to purchase Volume 3. Yes...as some have said there were many things that I thought were recapped from the previous books, but so what! It gave me a review immediately in a new format instead of having to go back and sig it out of the other volumes. It is very easy reading...read it off and on in about 2 days. Again, Scott shows you a picture and then shows you what settings he used and how to capture that photo. For the money, all 3 of Scott Kelby's books are worth adding to your library as a photographer!
Book Review: Excellent book, well written, easy to apply. Summary: 5 Stars
As with his previous two volumes in this series, Scott Kelby has produced another excellent "how to" book for shooting digital photos that go beyond the "point and shoot" type of pictures that amateur photographers can so easily fall into. His instructions and methods are clear and easy to understand and apply. If you've read his first two books in this series, you'll love this one. If you haven't read the first two, I recommend you purchase all three and get ready to take your digital photography to the next level of enjoyment and quality.
Book Review: more digital Summary: 5 Stars
As always, clear, helpful and enjoyable to read. Every time I get a bit lazy about taking photos I pick up a Scott Kelby book and feel inspired to get out there trying new things.I have all three books in this trilogy and have learnt so much from each of them. I particularly like the fact that they are humourous and only give the required amount of technical information to make the picture happen, rather than endless explanations of why it happens. Definitely would recommend to anyone starting out in digital photography without question.
Book Review: Wonderful! Summary: 5 Stars
This book builds naturally upon all the knowledge I gained from volumes 1 and 2. Each page contains a little nugget I can use to make my photography better. I am a semi-novice, but getting better all the time thanks to these books. I've even begun to make some money on the side from my fun hobby (enough to upgrade my gear a bit and keep shooting!), selling pics to parents from my kids' school or taking family portraits for friends and colleagues. Learning more about lighting and lenses was just what I needed to help me out with that.
