Book Reviews of The Digital Photography Book, Volume 3

Book Review: Not What I Thought
Summary: 2 Stars

My brother is starting photography school in January and I thought this would be a good reference book for him. I bought because it says "Volume 3" believing it to be the most evolved edition. Instead, the first chapter tells you to jump back in the car and buy the previous volumes. It was such a disappointment when he opened it during our family Christmas party last Saturday and asked if I knew where he could buy the first two. I wanted to give him something he could use, not something he'd have to go back to the store and purchase.

Book Review: Good follow-up to the series
Summary: 4 Stars

In my opinion the first two editions to Scott's Digital Photography Book series were better in that they seperated out the type of photography into specific subjects (outdoors, studio, portrait, etc) while this latest addition seemed to jumble the subjects (with good tips though). Also it seemed be more of "to get this effect buy this thing" type of book instead of his previous "to get this effect set your camera to these settings".

Still found it to be worth the price and a good addition to the bookshelf.

Book Review: A 'must' for any aspiring photographer or library catering to them
Summary: 5 Stars

Volume 3 of Scott Kelby's classic best-selling digital photography handbook provides step-by-step instructions for making a photo look polished and professional, offering a follow-up to his Volume 2 with a new book that picks up where the second volume left off. Each page covers a single idea on how to make a photo better - professional tips and tricks pack a solid handbook detailing exact settings and options that translate to professional results. A 'must' for any aspiring photographer or library catering to them.

Book Review: Digital Photography by Scott Kelby
Summary: 5 Stars

This is the 3rd in a series by Kelby. He is far and away the easiest author to read, especially in the area of technical help. If you are a photographer, from amateur to pro, you will get a lot out of these books. Scott writes to you as if you are the only one he's talking to. He takes you on a shoot and tells you what to do to get any particular shot. I would like to get to meet him, if only to personally thank him for his books, tapes, etc. He is a genius in communicating his ideas. Do you get the picture?

Book Review: Excellent book
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a book for whoever loves digital photography. I would recommend this book to the others. I also have Scott Kelby's Digital Photography Volume 1 and Volume 2 which are highly recommended as well. Mr. Kelby doesn't tell you any sophisicated techniques about digital photography, he just tell you directly as to how to shoot a picture. For exampe, if you want to shoot a sunrise picture, he will tell you exactly what setting you should have in your camera. His techniques explanation are easy to understand.
