Book Reviews of The Distant Land of My FatherBook Review: Worthy of 10 Stars! Summary: 5 Stars
If you can call crying through the last 60 pages, and jotting down each lovely Chinese phrase, loving a book -- I certainly did. Impossible to put down and beautifully written, I recommend this journey to everyone. You will not be sorry for having taken the time to read Bo Caldwell's amazing achievement.
Book Review: DISTANT LAND OF MY FATHER...GOOD BOOK Summary: 4 Stars
THE BOOK IS A NOVEL WRITTEN AS A MEMOIR. THE CHARACTERS ARE VERY REAL AND WELL DRAWN. I CARED ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED TO THEM. THE RELATIONSHIPS WERE REALISTIC. THE CHINESE HISTORY AND THE DESCRIPTIONS OF SHANGHAI WERE MOST INTERESTING. THIS IS A "MUST READ".
Book Review: WWII Shanghai - love and war Summary: 4 Stars
Life in Shanghai before and during WWII, seen through the eyes of the young daughter of a glamorous, complicated American ex-pat couple. Vivid descriptions, wise insights, exciting plot. Thoroughly entertaining, but also informative.
