Book Reviews of The Enemy (Jack Reacher, No. 8)

Book Review: A great read for a long plane ride
Summary: 4 Stars

I picked this book up for a long plane ride and was a few pages in before I realized that I'd read it before. However, Lee Child's writing is so sharp and Reacher's detection is so intelligent AND practical that I couldn't put it down and reread the whole story. Totally absorbing.

For those who think that television shows on the work of military intelligence provide a good picture of what they do, I'd suggest reading this book for a much more insightful and exciting story, fascinating mystery - and, if you haven't read other Reacher books, an introduction to a great character.

Book Review: One of the best, bar none...
Summary: 5 Stars

This guy, along with Robert Crais and T. Jefferson Parker, is one of the best mystery writers out there. He can't write them fast enough in my opinion, and Jack Reacher is a man's man on par with Travis McGee. Read this book, along with every other Reacher novel out there and you can't possibly be disappointed.

Negative reviewers get over yourselves. The fact that Child isn't American doesn't mean anything, and anyone that believes that his military conspiracies are too farfetched should snap out of it. Pick up a history book for chrissakes...

Book Review: A must read for Thriller fans.
Summary: 4 Stars

I'm a little late on my review but I just had to get a plug in for Lee Child. In my opinion Lee Child is an unsung mystery/thriller writer. His novel "The Enemy" is prequel to the rest of the Jack Reacher's series going back to his army days in the early 1990's.

What follows is a terrific military police procedural that finds Reacher pursuing a case that involves a cover-up in the USA and Europe. This exciting story could only be told by the talents of Lee Child. A must read for all thriller fans.

Book Review: The Enemy
Summary: 5 Stars

All I've got to say is, "WOW"! Child has really gone and written a superb thriller with this one. You feel as though you are living in Reacher's body as he wallows in the various different lives he connects with. He's compulsive, yet tender, with his aide as they travel (nearly) the world in search of clues that will relieve him of extraordinary pressures. She certainly proves herself valuable..in more ways than one! The Army (hopefully, but probably) really isn't quite like what Reacher had to live through.

Book Review: The Enemy
Summary: 5 Stars

In this book Jack Reacher is a still a Major in the Military. He's sent to look into the murder of a general. Things become more complicated when the General's wife dies. Jack's boss leaves suddenly and the new guy, a former pencil pusher tells him to stop his investigation. Another gruesome murder takes place and it's beginning to look like a conspiracy of major proportions is going on. Jack disobeys orders and soon finds himself the one who's in trouble. This is another great read from Lee Child.
