Book Reviews of The Final Detail (Myron Bolitar)Book Review: My Final Bolitar Novel Summary: 3 Stars
I may try one more, but only if the action picks up. By reading this, you would not know that Myron Bolitar has a third degree black belt in marshal arts. Here he is always getting the crap beat out of him. Oh, by the way Win, Myron's rich friend has a sixth degree black belt and is usually underestimated by his opponents.
This Bolitar novel is readable, but just barely; Myron is becoming too much of a confused character. Thank God for Win who is strong and always on a steady course. This is a murder mystery, but Coben needs to pick up the action or their marshal art talents are wasted.
Book Review: Final Detail - Final Chapter blew me away! Summary: 4 Stars
This book was grittier than most and I was ambivalent about thinking Myron was taken advantage of. The final chapter left me disapponted in Myron for the first time. Win should have slapped him silly!
The missing daughter of Sophie Mayor tore at my heart and I found myself agreeing with Sophie's solution. What's up with that? The investigation was very complex. As usual, I didnt put it together until Mr. Coben wanted me to. I love his books.
On to the next.
Book Review: Another excellent book by Coben Summary: 4 Stars
I had my doubts when I started the first book in the Myron Bolitar series, because some of the dialogue was a little too strained to the ear and the character of Win was a total cliche, like a whitewashed Hawk from Spenser. But Coben writes a great mystery, albeit not always one that can be solved until the hero does. And by book 4, he had turned Win into my favorite character of the series, by far. Coben also makes the violence realistic, and it's nice to see a hero without superpowers.
Book Review: A Great Read! Summary: 5 Stars
The Final Detail is the 6th book in a growing series. This is a wonderful book. It is a fast moving, funny but serious novel. In the beginning of the novel Myron returns from an extended vacaction to find one of his best friends Esperanza is in jail. She will not talk to anyone but her attorney. Myron and Win(the other best friend) want to help Espernaza out but she doesn't want the help. I definitly recommend this novel to anyone who is interested in fast moving novels.
Book Review: Entertaining and Funny Summary: 4 Stars
I enjoy this story but honestly it was the characters that really caught my interest. It's filled with funny one-liners and enough tv and movie references to make any entertainment buff go back to memory lane. There were several references to past stories in the series, but the story itself is self-contained. A solid mystery with plenty twists.
