Book Reviews of The Five Love Languages of ChildrenBook Review: Tonia Tomlin, Author of Chaos 2 Calm raves this is a must read! Summary: 5 Stars
Learning the best way of parenting your children does not always come easy but after reading "The Five Love Languages of Children" it has made things easier to discover. Being a mom of twin girls, I have been learning the different ways each of them show their love towards me and others. Understanding this has helped me find the best way to show my love to each of them and how to raise and discipline in effect ways. Arranging special trips with one or the other allows the quality time with my child that each of them need. I love them both endlessly and with the help of this book have been able to show them how deep that love is for them both as my twins as well as individually! I recommend this for all parents to read!

Book Review: Make the most if your time with kids! Summary: 5 Stars
I am a grandma and a retired Special Education teacher. Over the years I have read a lot on childrearing and discipline. I read this hoping to make the most of my time with my grandkids. This book surpassed my expectations. Over the years I have learned about "quality time" and rewarding and praising behavior. I practiced this and more, but I always felt like something was missing. Each of those things I used worked to a degree, but I kept thinking that has to be more- Please Lord- show us what we are missing. God has answered my prayers! This book pulls the best of all I have learned together with lots of new info and NOW it makes sense. The mini interviews with the kids and parents add lots to this book. It is an easy read! There is a section for single parents, too!
Book Review: Great advice on how to fill up your child's love tank. Summary: 4 Stars
This book is a follow up to the best seller book for couples, The Five Love Languages, that is awesome and I like to give as a wedding gift. Anyway, it talks about filling a child's love tank by understanding how they like love expressed to them, whether by words of affirmation, physical touch, quality time, gifts, or acts of service. They say that it really isn't possible to detect your child's primary love language until they are about five--so express love in all these ways while they're young and until you find out which way is most meaningful to them. One way to determine their primary love language is just to ask them how they know you (the parent) love them and see whether they describe presents, time together, things you've done for them, etc.
Book Review: Speak love so your child can understand it. Summary: 5 Stars
This book examines the ways that different people communicate love. Broken down into gifts, time, physical touch, words, and unexpected acts, love is communicated and understood differently by different people. The author argues that hurt feelings and emotional distance can be created by not understanding which love language is your child's primary language. This is applicable not only for children, but for understanding relationships with friends, your spouse and your own parents. I learned to recognize when my husband was expressing his love for me in his primary language. Contains guidance on how to determine which is your child's primary love language. Highly recommended.
Book Review: Essential Gift for New and Long-Standing Parents Summary: 5 Stars
It's never too late to get with the program. See my primary review of "The Five Love Languages" for additional details. This author has a simple formula, easy to understand and easy to apply. This book is the best possible gift for both new and long-standing parents, especially in this age to two-income families, striving to fit too much into each day, and in the face of the Internet and television as a corosive alternative to parenting. I'm no saint--barely competent as a parent--this book is in my case a badly needed intervention. It took three children for me to figure this stuff out. Buy five copies and gently make a difference to five families.
