Book Reviews of The Four Magic Moves to Winning GolfBook Review: Finally in the position to go after it Summary: 5 Stars
I bought Dante's book after connecting in spirit with the other customers here who bought it, found it worked, and shared their views. I'd watch the pros on TV and was always intrigued by that great position at the top with the flat wrist and the first move down. Getting the whole thing from the dead start to the top is a process that has never been adequately conveyed to me and absorbed by me...until I read this book. The meticulous treatment of the first move with the early wrist break to the top is a masterpiece of instruction for the lost soul. Don't rush your time spent reading and practicing Move Uno. Once you feel that sensation of owning your grip on the club with the hands set solid and perfectly at the top of your coil, you're about ready to trust Dante with your firstborn. Ahhh...so THIS is what a player's swing actually feels like.
Book Review: Out with the trash and in with the truth! Summary: 5 Stars
This book is a masterpiece. Dante et al begins by dispelling a multitude of golf's most common misconceptions and maligning advice. Each myth is expounded upon nicely so that there are no doubts as to why these time-tested pearls are mostly or dead wrong. This whole first section cleans the slate so that you're primed for the real matter. The manner in which this book is written and illustrated are first class. I've never read a golf book more descriptive, concise and correct! The reading is easy and the instruction intelligent and bold. There will be no doubt in your mind on how the swing should be conducted. Don't be dissuaded by original date of publishing... as stated above, it is timeless. If you're looking for a profound book that's not overly technical, easily understood, true and tested, this is it!
Book Review: Stop swinging like a "Sunday morning duffer" Summary: 5 Stars
A complete mechanical overhaul. That's what this book is about. Don't expect the "magic moves" to be simple adjustments that you can make over the course of a week. I've read this book three times, and practiced countless hours trying to emulate the proper swing. I can now say that it was all worth it, as my shots now have more power, and my wicked slice is all but forgotten.
Joe Dante approaches the golf swing in a scientific manner, first by disposing of long-held myths, and then presenting the proper movements as proven by photographs of the pros. He doesn't gloss over anything, explaining each principle fully with photos and common sense reasoning. If you want to stop swinging like a "Sunday morning duffer" (as Joe calls it), then read this book!
Book Review: From a Weekend Golfer... Summary: 5 Stars
Three years ago, I was to the point as a weekend golfer that I wasn't having any fun with the game. Not able to get off the tee effectively, atrocious approach shots, ill-fated pitch shots...the whole gamut of bad golf shots. No fun. I had decided to either take some (more) lessons from a local pro, or throw in the towel. On a whim, I did a search on Amazon for golf books, was intrigued by this title, and bought it for a fraction of the cost of lessons. I read the first magic move, took it to the range, and--with a little work, but not unlike magic--my ball was flying straighter, higher and farther than ever before. My advice: Buy it, work on the four magic moves, and have fun playing golf again. I am!
Book Review: I like this book Summary: 5 Stars
I like the golf technique taught in this book. I liked the golf myths section of this book. It presents with some solid advice. I also recommend for beginning golfers --Ben Hogan's Five Lessons--...
For all golfers I think you can benefit from
---The Ultimate Golf Instruction Guide: Key Techniques for Becoming a Zero handicap Golfer or Better (ISBN 1933023090)---
This last book helped me to become a highly skilled golfer. In fact, I used to be a 10 handicap, with the help of The Ultimate Golf Instruction Guide, I now am down to a 3 handicap. However, this book will show you that you can keep getting better and you don't have to be stuck a certain handicap level.
