Book Reviews of The FrontBook Review: Once again a huge let down by Ms. Cornwell and her political diatribes. Summary: 1 Stars
It seems that once Ms. Cornwell made it big she now has to let her political leanings infiltrate every book she writes. There was once a time her crime novels were about crime and using forensics to solve such crimes. She developed characters, some we liked and some we hated. Now, she has to make is all about her how political leanings. Not even half way into this book we have to hear her own voice again and again speaking through the characters, most often in a non sequitor manner. I wished I had read the reviews here before I purchased the book. It would have saved me some money that I could have used to donate to the political party she seems to hate so much.
This will be the last book I waste my money on that has been written by such Ms. Cornwell.
Book Review: Cornwell Turns Garbage To Gold Once Again Summary: 1 Stars
I thought Cornwell could do no worse than Isle of Dogs - The Front was as bad (if not as vulger). The author sells her books because of her name. It seems you can turn out any ridiculous piece of trash and make money, if at one point in your career you were a legitimate author. I believed that James Patterson was the master in this regard, but even he has not produced anything so ridiculous and nonsensical as this book. The positive reviewers who are quoted here must have entirely different standards than I, or have read a different book. I give it 0 stars and resent the time wasted reading it - fortunately however, it was so "cut to the bone" that even with thick paper and big print, there was nothing much to read. Last Cornwell book for me - Renee Wadler
Book Review: A Great read! Summary: 5 Stars
The Front is a great read. Cornwell weaves many threads that come together seamlessly in the concluding chapters. It is amazing how so many apparently disconnected incidents, or tossed off lines of dialogue-in the end-are really germane to the plot.
Her characters are carefully drawn. The physical descriptions, as well as the personality traits, are rendered down to the smallest detail. Even a character who exasperates or irritates (think Monique) has a vulnerability that enables the reader to have sympathy, if not affection, for her.
I'm intrigued by Patricia Cornwell's characterizations, settings, and plots. I've tried to winnow it down to which is one is her real strengths? Have come to the conclusion she's a master of all!!
Book Review: Another disappointment Summary: 2 Stars
Patricia Cornwell's last few books have been disappointing, but I was willing to give her the benefit of the doubt on this new series, since I so enjoyed her first several books. This one was a loser too. I think she's lost her muse. Ever since she began the werewolf nonsense, and then that awful book where Scarpetta is in Florida licking her wounds and totally out of the loop it has gone down hill. She is not being true to the character of Scarpetta, and she is not creating new characters with this series that are well rounded, likable, and interesting. I hate to see Cornwell turning out this pap, since I know from experience that she is capable of so much more. Very disappointing book. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, even the most die-hard Cornwell fan.
Book Review: What a Great Book! Summary: 5 Stars
The Front was awesome! I loved the character's, Win Garano, Monique Lamont. I think it is good to have a change from Scarpette, Marino, Lucy and Benton even though I love these character's and will always read Ms. Cornwells novels on them, but the Front was great. It was hard to put down, you find yourself so in to this book being so serious and then you start laughing at one of the character's like Faronk and lets not forget Nana and Stump. If you haven't read The Front you need to get it, it is a very enjoyable read by Patricia Cornwell. Thank you for another great book, PLEASE keep them coming!!! Actually I enjoyed it so much I am going to read it again. She made this one different and I mean in a great way, I just can't say enough about The Front.
