This is the book for the 95% of women who blindly follow the American, medicalized ideal of pregnancy and birth. Those of you who don't want to be confused by any information about how epidurals might slow your labor or how inaccurate many of the diagnostic tests (including ultrasound) actually are will love this book. Instead of reading about how to choose a physician or midwife who agrees in principle and action with your birth philosphy, you can read about how the author loves to dress up and flirt with her OB. Enjoy putting yourself into the hands of your competant doctor who will probably show up in time to give you an emergency C-section. If you are looking for actual information try "The Birth Book" by Sears and Sears; in addition to several birth stories you will get both sides of the story, and you can make up your own mind about what's important to you regarding your pregancy, labor and birth
