Book Reviews of The Gravedigger's Daughter: A Novel (P.S.)Book Review: A+ Summary: 5 Stars
A remarkable account of life in America in the 1950's and 60's. Wonderfully written story of a girl growing into a woman. Rebecca/Hazel managed to face life in all of it's ugliness with a profound grace. I loved this book and would recommend it to all. At times I found my heart racing as I cheered on this unlikely hero.
Book Review: Fascinating Summary: 5 Stars
I just finished reading The Gravedigger's Daughter this morning and was captivated by Mrs. Oates' writing. It kept me spellbound. I have lived in Germany and have visited Dachau on a high school trip (from Virginia) in 2004. Now I would like to read much more of her work.
Book Review: the gravedigger's.... Summary: 1 Stars
i hated "my sister my love..." anothe jc oats book so i decided to give her writing another try because she was so well published. big mistake! i couldn't stand this book anymore than the first one. the writing leaves me brain dead and depressed. awful awful writing.
Book Review: Too Much Profanity Summary: 1 Stars
Seldom do I start a book that I don't finish. This book, Gravedigger's Daughter, unfortunately is one of those I
stopped reading. However good the story may have been, it was ruined by having excessive profanity. Spoiled the book!!
Book Review: Unpleasant and distasteful Summary: 1 Stars
I did not enjoy this book. I made it about halfway through and then gave up after one too many f-words and male-abusing-female stereotypical characters. When I realized that I was dreading picking the book up, I knew it was time to stop.
