Book Reviews of The Greatest Salesman in the WorldBook Review: Powerful parable Summary: 5 Stars
A friend gave me this book 15 years ago and I have read it many times since then. Mandino presents powerful truths in a beautifully simple, innovative, and insightful way using a parable (a short story that communicates important or profound values).
The short, pithy lessons are easy to remember, but far from trite...these are no mere greeting card platitudes, but sound life lessons. I heard modern-day philosopher Jim Rohn say that "it's the six or seven little things you do that make about 80 percent of the difference in life." This book shows that the heart and motivation of truly successful capitalism is not selfishness or greed, but it's service and optimism.
Every young person needs to read this book; it would make a wonderful graduation gift! Before going into the marketplace, take a few valuable moments to become better equipped and inspired.
Book Review: Inspiring! Summary: 4 Stars
The attitude of success is reinforced in this powerful book. Readers are taught the necessity of perserverance in goal attainment. A key is given to unlock the door to achievement, i.e., "I will form good habits and become their slaves." Mandino stresses the point that true wealth is not in the material arena. Quality of life lies beyond the transitory nature of the physical. He focuses on enhancing generosity. In addressing interpersonal relationships he writes "all hate is let from my veins for I have not time to hate, only time to love." He is inspiring when he drives home a theme. His talent is in his ability to repeat and approach the topic from a new angle so that the freshness is not lost through repetition. I highly recommend this book. Its principles have positive implications far beyond successful sales work.

Book Review: I couldn't believe a book could hold so much power. Summary: 5 Stars
In the summer of 94 I made a brave move and decided that I would sell books with The Southwestern Company in the US for the summer. I was just a college student in the UK so this was a BIG step for me. It was quite simply the toughest thing I have ever done. Thankfully SW give you all the tools you need to deal with such a tough task - one of those was "The Greatest Salesman in the World" by Og Mandino, it quite literally gave me a new perspective on my summer and life in general. It inspired me, gave me the will to keep going and helped give me a positive outlook on life that I carry with me to this very day. I must have read that book a hundred times that summer and thank God I did! This book is a fantastic inspiration and I wholeheartedly reccomend it to Salespeople and non-salespeople alike.
Book Review: Excellent mentality enhancing sales book Summary: 5 Stars
I am a sales manager and I found this read to be excellent and well worth the time of anyone that must sell products, services or ideas on a daily basis. The concept he covers as, I believe, his second scroll is using love to combat all the challenges we face on a daily basis. I have, indeed, found this concept to work and that it may seem "cheesy" to some or not "macho" enough to others but that it does work.
This book is really not a book that focuses on enhancing your actual skills as a sales person or sales manager but on enhancing your mentality that you attack each day with. As many successful sales people already know success is derived directly from your mentality and attitude and that is what this book helps the reader with. It is an easy and quick read and well worth the time.
