Book Review: Superb

It was a real pleasure to find this great kids' book. The truth is, a lot of children's books, including some of the classics, are a bit of a yawn for the parents. And when they're not, the kids often don't like them! The Grufalo wins both readerships: it's clever, has depth, and a moral to it if you like that sort of thing. There is also a nice existential closure after all the cavorting of all the carnivores: "the mouse found a nut and the nut was good." Lovely images too, deep rich hues and nice definitions. my kid loves this book. He hardly understands any English but he still loves the rythme in the words and the story itself. He loves it when I make special voices for the different characters, especially the voice of the little mouse.
The drawings are fun and very nice for children, my boy really loved to watch the gruffalo. This story just makes him laugh. Children like to have fun with fear and this does the job.
I wonder if anyone can be disappointed by this???

First of all, thanks to everybody who left their positive reviews about this book on amazon. If not for you, I would have never discovered Julia Donaldson and her books. Now we own a few and love them all. This one is a favorite, clever funny story, beautiful illustrations.
My toddler may not fully understand all the humor in the story, but understands enough to enjoy it even at this age and asks for it every day. One of my husband's favorite books too :)
Book Review: A bit of a dilemma?

My husband and I found the book very cute, nicely illustrated, and of course you can't beat the title. No wonder there are no bad reviews posted. It took our 4-yr old daughter to point out the obvious: the mouse lies to everyone to protect himself. Which mommy and daddy have worked hard to convince her is NOT a good thing to do. Oops! I suspect we'll have the same issue with many of the world's folk tales...Book Review: Gruffalo is Great

I bought this book on an Amazon recommendation looking for reading material for my 8 yr old nephew. Not only does he love it and enjoy reading it, turns out my 2 yr old niece loves it just as much too. There are lots of pictures balanced with words to keep her attention and an entertaining story to keep his. It is the favorite book of the summer for both of them. A huge hit.
