Book Reviews of The Gun Digest Book Of Concealed CarryBook Review: Bio-mechanics over decision-making of concealed carry Summary: 2 Stars
I found the book obsessively emphasized the bio-mechanics of concealed carry and drawing. What I had hoped for was more discussion about techniques for deciding *when* to draw (threat assessment and tips for diffusing/avoiding/escaping situations short of drawing, weapon retention, etc.). In short, I was looking for practical info on how to carry as discreetly as possible and how to *avoid* the gun fight--more so than tips on how to get the gun out faster than the other guy.
Maybe I was naive.
Book Review: almost complete Summary: 4 Stars
A learnt a lot from this book about concealed carry techniques, holsters, limitations ,tactics. Overall a must read. My only complaint, and the reason behind the 4 stars and not 5, is that it would have been very useful to show with more photos and of better quality the various holsters mentioned in the text. It is confusing sometimes to distinguish between the various alternatives, many of which are not showed in the pics. A good work overall, but lacking some useful pics on many occasions.
Book Review: Good Info, Could Be More Complete! Summary: 4 Stars
This book is a collection of articles written for Gun Digest by Mr. Ayoob. For the most part the book is informative, straightforward, and to the point. It is useful as a beginner's guide to concealed carry and to understand some of the very realistic implications of concealed carry. It could be a little more complete on reviews of different methods. Some of the holsters mentioned are very expensive, however I am sure they work well. Overall very good information, but very short.
Book Review: What You Didn't Consider About Carrying Summary: 5 Stars
Mr. Ayoob opened my eyes to more than just carrying a concealed weapon. His insite to the mentality of carrying a concealed weapon is amazing. While I haven't finished the book, what I have read has changed my thought prosses about carrying. The way you think, the weapon you choose to carry, how you choose to carry it, were just a few of the eye openers that has changed my thinking.
Thought provoking writing Mr. Ayoob. Great recommendation by my son!
Book Review: Worth Every Penny Summary: 5 Stars
Just got this book. Must say that I was initially hesitant, but after receiving it today and looking at it I can heartily recommend this to anyone. I don't know if you could attend a seminar that would be this thorough. Plus, if you have this book, it will always be an excellent reference source in your library. It's a keeper! If you loan it out, make sure you put your name in the book. You may not get it back. Enjoy.
