Book Review: The book (or diary, rather) that deserves a soundtrack.

I have been a Crue fan from their first vinyl, (I was 11) when I read the liner notes I learned just whom I was actually a fan of, Nikki Sixx has been a part of my life for over 20 years. I have seen the Crue live 9 times, 7 with backstage passes, so I shouldn't be shocked. I mean anyone around could see the excess, and the debauchery, but who knew it was that much different from the 'typical life' of a rock star, (Answer: the people who know them as just people, friends, another artist, (or musucian), I figured that out long before this book). I have both 1/2's of Nikki's magnum opus, the book and soundtrack, that will forever stand in alone as the most honest, and brutal humbling of a man, put upon a pedestal, with nothing & noone to help him keep his footing, and not fall.That made it up-on his feet, lived to tell about it, and did so...to help people in similiar situations. I am grateful to Nikki for being so raw, and not making his journey seem like 'a little time to recoup', but what it was/is a lifelong battle- for life! I've a family member with problems this severe, (believe it or not) but she isn't ready to try, she still wants to die. I pray that before she does herself in, she will find a quiet place within, where she is not so very altered a little longer than usual. If/when that time comes, I'll be there for her with these two tools as a gift & guide to let her know she's not gone- it can be done.
