Book Reviews of The Hollow (Sign of Seven Trilogy, Book 2)

Book Review: Definitely Not "Hollow"
Summary: 5 Stars

Ms. Nora all I can say is... You've Done It Again! After reading Blood Brothers I couldn't wait for The Hollow, pre-ordered it and still couldn't wait, ran out Tuesday and bought it (^secretly has double n triple copies of nora books stashed throughout the house for that quick fix). What can I say I'm a sucker for a fabulous book. Fox and Layla bring out the best in people. Fox with his giving ways and Lalya with her ordered thinking and newly found gift. For all of you who want the/a raunchy quick fix for the wild side of sex, then pick up something different. This book portrays the lights and darks of life, love and humanity. In a place where true Evil wishes to reign supreme, love and friendship hold it at bay, slapping it in the face just by living and doing what needs done. I absolutely cannot wait for The Pagan Stone in December

Book Review: The Hollow
Summary: 4 Stars

The Hollow is book two of the Signs of Seven trilogy by Nora Roberts. It is the story of three men who accidentally unleashed a demon, buried for three hundred years, on their tenth birthday. Since then, every seven years, people are driven to unthinkable acts of violence. Cal, Fox and Gage are unaffected and left to defend the victims alone. The seven years will be up in July but; this time, there are three woman who are also connected, to help them destroy the demon once and for all. It's no surprise that the six break off into couples. I felt neutral about the first book. But, book two proves better than book one. I thought the romance between Fox and Layla was better than Cal and Quinn. In addition, as the demon gains more power, there is more action in this book. Can't wait to see how the story concludes in book three.

Book Review: Adventure and Romance
Summary: 4 Stars

I must admit that romance novels are not my preference. I like adventure and mystery novels. Even my brother (who recognized the Nora Roberts name as a Romance author) asked me, "Why are you reading a romance novel?"

"It's not a romance novel. It's an adventure," I informed. He only snickered.

However, despite the romance in the novel this is also a great mystery story. At times it is a horrific story that describes a demonic presence in a small town.

The main characters struggle to solve an age old mystery while at the same time combat an evil presence that has inflicted pain, fear and death in the town of Hawkins Hollow every seven years.

It is like the X-Files with a touch of romance. Good story. I enjoyed reading it and I would recommend this books to others.

Book Review: Another Great Nora Roberts Book
Summary: 5 Stars

If you have never read a Nora Roberts book you are just missing out on the best author alive today. I reccomend anything by this author you just can't go wrong. If you want to read one of her trilogies make sure you read them in order. If you like futuristic suspense pick up a J.D. Robb novel. Start with the first book and read the entire series in order, it's a great escape. I read Nora Roberts to escape from the hectic pace of my life and take a little mini trip into a land she has created in the pages of her latest best seller. Nora's characters leap off the page and you get the feeling that you may run into one of her characters when you step out of your home. I have not loved all of her books but her worst book is a masterpiece compared to about 80% of the authors that are publishing today.

Book Review: Not Great, but it's still Roberts
Summary: 4 Stars

4 Stars because it was published in paperback. I would have been far less generous if I'd been compelled to purchase a hardcover just because it has Nora's name on it.

Paranormal has never been my favorite genre, however Nora Roberts has always handled it well. What I enjoy most about her stories are the relationships - between guy friends, family, neighbors, community. These are the relationships we so often forget to look at when trying to concentrate on romance and I believe Roberts does a lovely job of reminding all of us.

That being said, this trilogy is definitely not my favorite. The story just lacks oomph! (for want of a better word). I will say it's worth the price of a paperback and a lazy afternoon read!
