Book Reviews of The Ice Pick TechniqueBook Review: The Ice Pick Technique Summary: 5 Stars
I have always been an avid mystery/suspense reader. I loved the introduction which had a unique style of introducing the readers to all the medical facts right in the beginning, so you could easily follow along in the story as it progressed. The characters were endearing and could have been our own family, and the mean people were scary mean. I loved the way each chapter ended with you feeling that if you could just find out that one last thing, you could put it down, but that was the beauty of it, there never was that one last thing. You are kept on the edge, yet feeling like you know what's going on, so you get confident you're figuring out the ending pretty good, until when the ending begins to show, you have no idea where this seemingly easy plot is going, then BOOM! Surprise ending, unbelievable surprise! This book shows a lot of planning, insight, medical and era research, a good scary story that flows, and it all tied up at the end with the reader knowing exactly what happened to each person, however it happened, and that is when you lean back with a sigh and say Boy! That was a great book! That's what I thought about after reading this wonderfully, gripping, exciting, heartbreaking, violent, criminal tale that had me feeling vindicated, love had blossomed, and that the truth will always prevail, it is just at what cost. I think you learn that here. BRAVO, BRAVO, BRAVO. Fine book, everyone should read it, I highly recommend it.
Summary of The Ice Pick TechniqueDr. Robert Jules and Dr. Simon Pierce are pioneers in the newly developing field of lobotomy, so when Harry Morgan comes to them suffering from severe depression, they see a chance to hone their skills while helping a patient recover. Pierce, a power-hungry egomaniac, convinces Harry that he must have the procedure to survive. After the operation is performed, Pierce is still not happy. He proceeds to take his inexperience one step further by attempting the crudest of operations called The Ice Pick Technique. This leads to countless lies, cover-ups and, most tragically, murder.
