Pat Crocker, the author, is both an herbalist and a home economist. This book is her work to educate the reader on the nutritional and health benefits that can be achieved in a dietary regimen with the support of juicing. Among the many books available on juicing this one bears keeping as a referential book when looking for a juice to aid in addressing a specific health condition. The format is easy to navigate and offers some interesting recipes to boost health and immunity.

The book is well thought out, offering recipes, health suggestions and some basic body function recommendations that can be helpful to anyone wanting to step away from a fully traditional diet and toward a more nutritionally dense, cleansing and internally strengthening one.
The recipes are clearly outlined and very easy to create.
Book Review: Surprisingly Comprehensive Summary: 4 Stars
As a nursing student and nutrition enthusiast, I've read piles of books on diet and disease. This book is comprehensive in that it includes information on not only juicing, but also blending, herbal tea-making, and use of whole foods. It includes information on diseases and nutritional support for those diseases in a way that reminds me of my nursing school texts. This information is more or less accurate, although brief. To my surprise and delight, it does not discount western medicine, but seems to tie together parts of both eastern and western tradition. I've seen much information in here that is in sync with my study of Chinese nutritional and herbal medicine. This book would be a good resource for anyone just starting to look into using diet to improve health and well-being. I give it four out of five stars as it could have been a little more in-depth on the disease-processes and how food interacts with the body to improve health; I also would have liked to see more professional medical resources in the bibliography to back-up the information that it does have.
Book Review: Excellent, and informative Summary: 5 Stars
This is a great book for beginning and experienced juicers alike. The first sections discuss the benefits of juicing, and break down the nutritional value of various fruits, vegetables and herbs. There is also a section dedicated to common illnesses, diseases and ailments, with a list of "healing juices" for each. We referred the book to a friend who had been struggling with acne. After just 3 weeks of using the recipes designated as beneficial to curing acne, she is already seeing great results. Not only has her acne been clearing up, but her hair is healthier too. Not to mention the great overall health benefits that she's begun experiencing from adding these fruits and vegetables to her daily diet. In our own home, I've made maybe a quarter of the juice recipes in the book and am looking forward to trying more!
Book Review: For those who want to LEARN. Summary: 5 Stars
First let me just say that this book is not for those who just want "yummy juice" recipes, there are plenty out there [...]. This book IS for those who want to learn about vegetables and fruits as they pertain to juicing, how to prepare them, how they affect your body, what nutrients are in them, and also how to use the leftovers (pulp) to enhance your diet. There are enough recipes to keep you going for quite some time so even if you can't immediately read about all the vegetables and fruits you can still start juicing immediately. If you are someone who wants to make juicing an everyday thing because you have heard about the positive results so many have had then this is a great place to start.
Book Review: Book seems very informative. Summary: 4 Stars
I bought this book to go along with a juicing machine I gave as a Christmas gift. I compared several juicer books in the local bookstore before ordering from Amazon, and this one seemed to be about the only one that didn't also require the person to have a blender for the recipes. The recipes sounded tasty. In addition, the book told some of the healthful uses for various types of juice and gave an estimate of how many fruits or vegetables it would take to make a certain amount of juice. I thought that last bit of information would be particularly helpful to a beginning juicer. I only gave the book 4 stars because I didn't actually use it myself.
