Book Reviews of The Last Oracle: A Sigma Force Novel

Book Review: Story Carries It - Sort Of
Summary: 2 Stars

This is my first James Rollins book, chosen from the NYT bestseller list because I was looking for an entertaining adventure writer. The story wasn't believable, but interesting enough to drag me through the slapdash writing. I'm happy to hear he's written better things. However, after struggling through meaningless sentences, weird images that include teats spilling in shining streaks of joy, I'm not sure I'm up to another try. It seems to me that, if only out of respect for his readers, he ought to read the final draft before submitting it to the publishers.

Book Review: Couldn't put it down, Literally!
Summary: 5 Stars

An avid reader(3-5 books a week), I am always on the lookout for the new and different. I honestly had never heard of James Rollins, nor read any of his books. I never knew what I was missing! This was a fantastic book, I literally couldn't put it down, beginning it at 6pm and finishing at 4am, I was enthralled the entire time. The plot line was intriguing, the characters believable, and the writing style excellent. I was pleased with the scientific and historical accuracy, and the explanations of these at the end. I am definitely a Rollins fan for life!

Book Review: What can I say but.....WOW!
Summary: 5 Stars

I am a huge James Rollins fan, and when I got done reading The Last Oracle, I was just blown away. Just amazing. Gray Pierce was of course the man once more, but better yet was the return of Monk! Loved the story around him in this book. Very well done. It's hard to put this one down while reading it also, due to the fast pace of it. I never got bored and thought, "Ok let's get going." I never wanted it to end. Anyone who is a fan of James Rollins, definitely pick this one up, you will not be disappointed. Keep them coming James! 10/10

Book Review: Rollins + Sigma Force = Fun
Summary: 4 Stars

If you're a fan of Rollins' already, you know what you'll get. This was one of the better ones, not so much in terms of believabilty...pretty far-fetched...but that's what he does! If you're not familiar with Rollins work, start with the first Sigma Force novel, because they make more sense read sequentially. There's enough carry-over, especially in the last three--that starting with this one will give you the feeling that you missed something (which you did!).

Book Review: readable but definitely not my favorite
Summary: 2 Stars

This James Rollins book just did not click with me. The story seems dragged out in every parallel story within the novel. I believe that he could have told it in much fewer pages.

In general, I like the way Rollins rolls science within his story, and yet managers to not explain everything within the scientific aspects. The epilogue was somewhat mystifying, though.
