Book Reviews of The Lion & the MouseBook Review: Wonderful version of this story Summary: 5 Stars
The illustrations are gorgeous and they tell the story -- there are almost no words at all in this version of the story. The wordless style really encourages children to think about what is happening and the motivations of both the lion and the mouse. My five and a half year old loves to "read" me the story and it's fascinating to hear his telling.
Book Review: The Lion and the Mouse Summary: 3 Stars
Purchased after recommendation in newspaper. Purchased for great-grandchildren. Artwork supposed to be excellent. Like the book and its presentation but disappointed to find that there was no story attached to read to the child, only the pictures. I went on Google and found the story, printed it and put it inside the book.
Book Review: Pictorial retelling of Aesop's Lion and Mouse Summary: 4 Stars
This colorful book tells the story of how a mouse saved a lion in pictures. The pictures are large and each fills an entire page. There is no text at all which disappointed me because I wanted something for my 3 year old to try to read. The pictures however are well done and can be studied at length.
Book Review: The Lion & the Mouse Summary: 5 Stars
I am 65 and often pick of children's books for the little ones in my life. While strolling Macys yesterday afternoon in Chicago I spotted the cover and went right for it. I added and extra copy for me. It is so beautiful! It will "live" amongst my favorites in my bookcase with a key.
Book Review: Exquisite! Summary: 5 Stars
I am a teacher who is passionate about fantasy and picture books. I have several of them illustrated by Jerry Pinkney and love each and every one of them.
This book is a fabulous addition to my collection. It is whimsical and engaging! The lion never look so good.
