Book Reviews of The Long Hard Road Out of HellBook Review: The Long Hard Road Out of Hell Summary: 4 Stars
The book is: Marilyn Manson, A Long Hard Road out of Hell, and can be defined as anything but sweet, wholesome and pure. I would consider it, dark, disturbed and hella interesting. If you know anything about Marilyn Manson, you know that he is more abnormal than most. This book shows just how "out there" he really is. The book starts by describing his childhood and moves through out his life in chronological order. He talks about the people he grew up with and family (or lack there of) he had. He talks about his religious background, first being Christian (in a catholic school) and then becoming a Satanist. There are tons of sick and twisted stories in here. There are things involving his perverted grandfather's obsessions, his cocaine use, the sex he has had, the relationships that took him for a ride and a collection of his own writings, such as stories and poems he attempted to get published. He goes in depth talking about the times he spent with Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails and the wacked-out things he did with Twiggy Rameraz. I found A Long Hard Road out of Hell to be very well written and definitely an interest keeper. There were many times I couldn't put it down as I kept thinking to myself, "what's going to pop out of this guy's thoughts next," and, trust me, something always did.
Book Review: Marilyn Manson Summary: 5 Stars
This book shows Marilyn Manson's metamorphosis from Brian Warner (such like any other kid) to Marilyn Manson. This is my favorite book, when it comes to Marilyn Manson. If you don't know anything about him or have been brain-washed by the the lies, you should read it. I am a Marilyn Manson fan, I am not saying that it is a great book because I just want you to buy it and give him more money. I want you to buy it because you will understand what he really is and what he really stands for. Which I also misunderstood, but this book helped me understand him and his music. And made me appreciate it as many people can't.
This is one of those "weird" books which you cannot stop reading until you finish it. Even if you are not a Marilyn Manson fan or maybe you one of those "Anti-Manson", After you finish reading it, I can guarantee that maybe you will not become a fan of his, but at least you will learn how to respect him. And if you are going to judge him (in a negative way), at least you will have the power to judge him for the right reasons, for the things he REALLY did, based on the truth. Not the rumors. After reading it, Marilyn Manson has become an obsession for me, and my idol, my teacher and a philosopher in my mind, He really changed me to a positive way.
Book Review: I LOVE THIS MAN!!!!! Summary: 5 Stars
Marilyn Manson proves he is an intelligent, insightful man in this autobiography. It's fascinating!!! He is very well-written and talented. He has no illusions about himself; instead of asking for hero worship, Marilyn/Brian shows us his true face, admitting his weaknesses, calling things as he sees them, and being very open and honest about the events and people in his life and how they've affected him. I highly recommend this book for fans and non-fans alike. In fact, if you are not a fan and read this book, I'm betting you WILL be as soon as you've finished reading. Brian Warner has always been intense, even in youth, but he found a wonderful outlet for all his angst in his creation of Marilyn. His talent continues to grow and surprise; not only does he write the songs for his band, but he is a photographer and writer as well (check out his photos of his honey Dita Von Teese in Playboy [Nov I think]). He is a passionate, talented man and should not be discounted just because he chooses "darkness" as his platform. We all hide our darkness within; all of us are capable of being the anti-christ (you HAVE to read his definition of this - it completely makes sense!). It is to this part of our being that Marilyn speaks - and every single word is worth hearing.
Book Review: One of the world's most feared men is exactly that: a man. Summary: 5 Stars
The first words that come to mind when someone mentions Marilyn Manson are what? "Deomon", "AntiChrist", "Satan"? Well, there's one word left out: "human". Despite what most religious fanatics that are frightened of diversity and change would have you think, there's no getting around the fact that Marilyn Manson - born Brian Warner - is still a human being. Subject to the same hardships, burdens, and emotional dilemmas that we all are, as shown in this finely written autobiography, "The Long Hard Road Out Of Hell". Within its pages lies the life of who could very well be the most hated man in America, from his childhood, to a little while after the completion of his groundbreaking album "Antichrist Superstar". In the pages between, you'll find the events, the good and the bad, that shape and mold the troubled Brian Warner into one of the world's great inspirational performers, Marilyn Manson. This book is truly a great example of the hero's (or in Manson's case, anti-hero's) journey, and would probably even make a great movie if there wasn't the utter certainty that it would be boycotted by every self-righteous Christian authority in existence. Do I recommend this book? Most definately.
Book Review: It surpised me.. Summary: 4 Stars
I never knew that Brain aka Marilyn Manson went though those things, and went to a christan school. It shocked me. Everyone sees him as this devil but when you set down and read his book or interviews you think different of them. His lyrics are genius. No one gives him a chance cause of the way he looks. But when you think about it, hes doing what he wants to do, and you should respect him no matter how ugly he is, hes actully a pretty cool guy. You just have to get to know him and this book will help you learn about him. Not all rock stars are people who wear makeup and try to get you to hate them no its nothing like that. Marilyan Manson is one of them that people just look at and think OMG HES STUPID OR OMG WHY DOES HE LOOK LIKE THAT...HE WORSHIPS THE DEVIL HES A GOTH!!..Manson is not a goth..He never clamined to be a goth hes more like Rock or Industral Gothic...Hes not even close to goth, and you should atleast give him a chance unstead of just juding all these bands you dont even know...or give a chance to...Manson is a great songwriter, and not a bad singer. So why dont you just stop judging him and maybe read his book and actully get to know the real manson. Just like you and me hes a human beining.
