Book Reviews of The Longest Trip Home: A MemoirBook Review: A Long Way Home review Summary: 4 Stars
I read A Long Way Home. It was a lovely Memoir. I could especially relate since I was raise in a Catholic home and also fell away for some time. Many of his stories seemed to remind me of similar experiences. I was especially touched by the death of his father which was so much like my own. I cried through the chapters. Life goes on, but it is never the same. I returned to the church and find so much peace in the relearning of faith.
Book Review: Grogan Summary: 5 Stars
I absolutely adored this book. Like many people I suspect, I picked up this book because Grogan authored it and so I thought it would be a good read. I was not let down. The book is a memoir of Grogan's time growing up as a young boy in a very Catholic family in Michigan through the present day. It's the type of book you don't want to end. A true gem that will warm your heart in much the same way that Big Russ & Me (Tim Russert) did.
Book Review: How to be a Good Father Summary: 5 Stars
I loved John Grogan's first book, 'Marley & Me'. I also love this second book, 'The Longest Trip Home'. John Grogan is a wonderful writer. I really enjoyed reading about a loving, functional family. His parents were very strict while being very loving. I think 'The Longest Trip Home' will help console people after the death of a parent.
There are also many funny parts to the book.
Book Review: The Longest Trip Home Summary: 5 Stars
I thought this book was excellent; extremely funny yet heartwarming. A book I would highly recommend to young people who will undoubtedly relate to it. ... "I thought I was the only one that did and thought querky things. This book t0ld me all kids do. It's part of growing up".... Adults, and especially parents will remember rearing their own and having the same experiences. I loved it!
Book Review: DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!! Summary: 1 Stars
I was so disappointed in this book!!! The language was very filthy!! This book is the sexual coming of age of a teenage boy. Very graphic and dirty.
I usually give the books I've read to the GoodWill but this book went right into the garbage after a couple of chapters. Mr. Grogan, it is not necessary to use such profanity. I am so sorry that I spent money on this book. It is a waste.
