Book Reviews of The Marlinspike SailorBook Review: What the what??? Summary: 2 Stars
This is a book for experts. But why would an expert need instructions. I would have loved to be able to have learned so many of these knots and projects, but there is simply not enough instruction for a beginner. Nice illustrations, sure. Maybe for collectors???
Book Review: Marlinspike for Young Adults Summary: 4 Stars
I found the description and drawings of the knots to be very informative and useful. This book will prove to be a valuable asset for helping us teach the young adults of the Sea Cadet Corps how to identify and tie knots.
Book Review: A Classic. Summary: 5 Stars
This is essential reading for anyone who wants to work with laid line. It's a collection of articles first published in The Rudder in the 1950s, so synthetic and braided line are treated as afterthoughts, if at all.
Book Review: The Marlinespike Sailor Blues Summary: 2 Stars
It was an alright book with some history to back up the use or origin of the knots, etc. I had hoped for something more unique and practical but that was not to be. It was a bit of a rehash from other books.
Book Review: A must have Summary: 5 Stars
This book is an excellent compliment to the Ashley book of knots. If you love rope, knots, or sailing this is a book that will be a welcome addition to your collection.
