Book Reviews of The Master Cleanser: With Special Needs and ProblemsBook Review: Your friends are not crazy! Great book, great cleanse! Summary: 5 Stars
I thought all my friends were crazy! Ten different friends of mine had all taken the 10-day lemonade fast as described in this book, and they all talked about how great it was! A nurse friend of mine told me how her blood pressure dropped, her sleep improved, and she felt more energy than ever before. Other friends of mine spoke of miraculous benefits too.
For years (literally), I sat on the sidelines listening to my friends talk about the fast... but I was always too scared and too skeptical to follow in their footsteps.
How could I possibly go 10 days without food?? I would kill myself! I can't even skip a meal without getting weak and hungry! How would my body react to no food and no vitamins? Surely it would shrivel up and die!
And then one day, I just did it. Just for the hell of it. I couldn't stand hearing my friends talk about it anymore. And so I did it.
And not only did my body survive, but my body thrived! I had a chronic cough from a year ago when I had bronchitis, and my chronic cough almost completely disappeared by the time my lemonade fast was over. I shed excess fat on my body, I felt incredible.
I highly recommend this book, and the lemonade fast. The author makes really strong arguments for what really is beneficial for your body, and how we poison our bodies by filling them with junk all the time.
It's time to give your body a rest and a cleanse. Check out this book, and witness your body come alive!
Book Review: The easiest way to change your bad eating habits. Summary: 5 Stars
My son is a message therapist and he did this diet for the detox. e does not need to loose any weight but he told me how it made him feel. He sent me the book to try because I had told him that I really needed to loose 50 lbs and I just could not change my bad eating habits. I read the book and discussed it with my wife. She was totally against it and me doing it. While I read the book I could just see that this seemed to be what I was looking for. I could do this for 10 or more days and then start eating right from there on out. Well I decided to do it and the 2nd day was the worst. I had a bad headache but I stuck with it. After the 2nd day I had no probem. I made sure to go around as many people that were eating as I could and the 2nd week on the diet I went on vacation for 2 weeks. I knew that if I could do this at that time I could change for ever. I am 47 years old. In the next 6 months I have lost a total of 57 pounds, went from streatching size 40 pants to wearing size 32 comfortably. My goal was to be under 200 lbs and I have went to 198 and I eat more than I ever have ( several times a day) not quantity and I eat more healthy. I run an average of 12 - 15 miles a week and I have not taken any of the asthma medicine nor have I had any heart burn since I started this diet. I would recomend this to anyone that is serious enough to try it but if you are not disciplined enough to stick to the instructions DO NOT TRY IT. Good Luck
Book Review: Great Book, Challenging Diet Summary: 5 Stars
I found this 50 page book very interesting. While i do not know if all the points in the book have medical validity i like the spin the author puts on things. He makes a few interesting points pretaining to the things we do in everyday life. He says that we should not just pray over our food, but pray for the ability to make good decisions at the grocery store. The book contains not just the lemonade diet (which is pretty difficult to follow) but also contains ideas for healthy living and natural remedies for after the diet. The diet is pretty straight forward and pretty brutal for the first couple of days till you get used to it. The cayenne pepper is miserable but very necessary to aid in the removal of mucus and toxins. After that it kind of changes how you look at bad foods and other things. I personally lost the majority of my cravings for unhealthy food, and also felt that i had alot more energy. I could breathe much better and also experienced a better sense of smell. As far as weight loss is concerned i lost 20 lbs and kept half of that off. Ill admit that the organic lifestyle is hard to follow, but i feel that if i was actually working out i would have kept more off and actually lost more. All in all i think this is a great overall cleanse to do every six months and the feeling of good health that you get from it is well worth the little bit of suffering you have to endure while youre doing it.
Book Review: Life-Changing Summary: 5 Stars
I've done the Master Cleanse 2X this year...one for 8 days and the latest one for 14 days. The 2nd fast I explelled Mucus (GROSS!) and my taste buds have COMPLETELY changed. For anyone fasting to lose weight..not a wise choice, though I did lose about 12 lbs some WILL return once you start eating food no matter how healthy it is..it's just inevitable. What my experience with fasting has done is changed my ENTIRE way of eating ( I only eat RAW, organic food now) and it has helped me to view food completely different..more as "medicine" than has "pure pleasure" which is how most Americans view it which is why we are the most obese nation in the world. Bottom line....if you are ready and up for it....I HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend this particular cleanse...get past day 3 and you won't feel hunger pains...it might feel like a roller coaster but believe me that it will pass...each day may feel completely different than the day before..just be aware and keep going...you'll gain discipline, lose a little bit of weight, change your taste buds, cleanse your intestines, have CLEARER skin and feel all-together better...this I know for SURE! It will hopefully lead you on a path of eating pure, organic, FRESH foods..foods that our body was MEANT to eat! Foods that our body KNOWS how to digest and metabolize; therefore, no more "diets"....it's a whole new way of life...a beautiful one! HAPPY CLEANSING! :)
Book Review: Extremely challenging, yet surpassingly rewarding Summary: 4 Stars
The Master Cleanser was my first fasting experience to date. My roomate was doing it at the time and after reading the book, decided to join him in the process. A few of my female friends said they tried it for 2-3days and it didn't work, but I didn't let that discourage me. I pulled off the 10days to my friends doubts. I even went out to a bar and drank water while my friends enjoyed their drinks. While fasting, I noticed that our society is soaked with food, the advertising is everywhere from the TV to every street corner. I feel for any American who wants to loose weight. It's not easy in this country. Since I don't eat 3 meals a day, it was a little easier for me to fast. I was only fatigued when I pushed myself in a physical way. After cleaning my system out, I have no fears of getting sick. My advice to the curious is; If you live with someone, do it together - If you eat a lot daily, cut back for a week before you start, that way the hunger pains won't be as bad - Avoid television, use the time to enlighten yourself with books or discussions - Understand that your body needs cleansing - And what anybody says about the hardships, ignore them and prove to yourself that you can do it. The first days are difficult and so are the last, but in the end you'll come away with a deep appreciation for the foods you eat. Your body will thank you!
