Book Review: Spectacular

My preconceived notions of the potential negative effects of purchasing a "used" book online quickly deminished when I received this copy of "The Missing Piece". I am ultra impressed with the quality, it appears to have never been opened, and the book was delivered within a week of purchase.
Years ago, I found a copy of this book at a garage sale. My copy is a little worn due to it's constant use. I have read and continue to read this beautiful, thought provoking story to my children as often as they will allow.
Recently, our school district celebrated "America Reads". My daughter asked me to come and read "any book that you want" to her class. I am absolutely moved by the message that this book holds. It is my goal, my passion, my commitment in life to help one child or one adult truly understand that we are NOT missing any pieces...we are perfect exactly the way we were made! There was nothing for me to decide...I read "The Missing Piece" to her class.
The students had so many questions and perspectives! It was truly amazing to hear their response. My daughters teacher had tears in her eyes (and so did I). As I gathered my things and proceeded to leave, her teacher stopped me and graciously thanked me for sharing this message. She stated that she had never heard of this book before. She said that if she had a copy, she would read it to every single class, every single year...until she retires from teaching. I was determined to find another copy...and give it to Mrs. Cannon for Christmas.
Again, thank you for sending me a spectacular copy of this fantastic book. I thank you, my daughter and her teacher thank you and every 2nd grade student for the next several years will listen to...and hopefully realize...that they are not broken or damaged...or...missing a piece.
