Book Review: Who knew? Sex can be better after 60!

For anyone turning 50 and beyond, this wonderfully presented book by Butler and Lewis provides the evidence that there is indeed "sex after 60" and offers information and guidance on having a satisfying sex life in later years. As a family therapist and life coach, I have conversations with people who are either afraid of getting older or are in the grips of the aging process and faced with many of the issues of aging and sexuality which this important book addresses. As we grow older, it is obvious that our bodies go through changes; but that is true of children becoming teenagers as much as women going through menopause or men needing viagra. Since changes are inevitable, we need guidance and reassurance about how to best cope with the changes and find ways to experience pleasure and joy, no matter what age.
I am using the Butler/Lewis book as an important resource for my own book which I am writing, also on issues of aging and ageism. As a woman approaching 70 myself, I can attest to the fact that sex after 60 can be wonderful and pleasurable. I'm thrilled that there are books like this available to the baby-boomers and even younger, so that we can all approach aging with delight and enthusiasm, not dread. Butler and Lewis have offered us an important document, as well as guidance, on what is true and NOT true about sex after 60. Their message is also my message: "life can be rich and full at any age." All I have to say about that is "WOOHOO"!
