Book Review: Excellent Books!

As a parent, I recognize that no one, including myself, is going to have the perfect answer all of the time. As an adult, the thing I need to keep in mind is to find the answers that will work for me and my family. I ask questions, I listen, I try suggestions and if it works, wonderful; if it doesn't, then I try something different. It's all about learning and the process makes me a better parent. If someone is the type of individual who is looking for the magic solution 100 percent of the time, then it's not going to happen and to expect that is completely unrealistic and will only set the stage for disappointment. I am a Early Childhood profession with years of experience as a teacher and a school director but even that did not prepare me for when I became a parent. In looking for advice, I was bombarded by books, articles, advice (both solicited and unsolicited) and so on. I experimented with different ideas as well as relied on my own experience. I think that makes me a better parent. Elizabeth Pantley's books have been a wonderful source of information and advice because I have found that her philosophy is totally in line with my own. I recommend her books to anyone that I think will benefit from them. It's all about the application of the material in an individual way that will work for your parenting style and your family and I've not found anything in her books that did not work. If you are looking for advice that you can apply to your style, this is the book for you because there are no hard and fast rules, no magic pills or quick fixes, just great common sense as well as creative ideas and suggestions that you can adapt to your own repertoire of parenting skills. I buy her books and include them with every baby shower gift for family and friends and have always received favorable and satisfied feedback from all who have read them!
