Book Reviews of The Ologies CollectionBook Review: Disappointed Summary: 1 Stars
I was expecting books that had some real information and educational material. However, I was very disappointed to find that the books are not that at all. The Wizardology book is a 'diary' of Merlin. From the description, I thought there would be a history of Wizardry and the legend of wizardry. The Egyptology book was the biggest flop of the series. I really expected some hard facts and real Egyptology, however, the book tries to pass itself off as a diary of a woman who was hunting for the tomb of Osiris. Dragonology was just as bad. No history of dragons from the east or west, just fantasy items. If you want facts, history and at least some educational material, you won't find them with these books. They don't even deserve the title of 'ology' since they are not a study of the subject matter, just a lot of fantasy. If you want extremely high priced fantasy for the content, buy the set. If you want something with substance, look elsewhere.
Book Review: Beautiful to look at and "play" with. (or "with which to play and at which to look" if you're going to get technical) Summary: 5 Stars
I discovered the Ologies series locally on the recommendation of a bookseller. I needed to get a child a gift and, as I am not a parent, had no clue about what is nice for kids these days. I was struck with the wonderful art direction: the puffy hard-cover jacket with little "gems" or compasses or whatnot embedded, the great art direction, the quality of the heavy glossy paper, the written content and how it dovetails nicely with the interactive elements contained in the book. It's the ultra "popup book" for the modern child. When I spotted this set of four books on Amazon-- Dragonology, Egyptology, Wizardology, Pirateology-- for not much more than I paid for one book, I had to snap them up. They will make great gifts. I would be careful about the Wizardology one for families who do not condone wizardry. No one seems to object to pirates, though... perplexingly.
Book Review: Spending Time With The Grandkids Summary: 5 Stars
These are top quality hard covered books that will last you for years to come. They will be wonderful for bedtime stories to put put visions in the kids heads and help them fantasize of things that are important to little kids. Great vehicle for spending quality time together as you are reading these to them. But they will need to be read to as they are way to advanced for children to read. But make NO mistake they will really look forward to their bedtime stories.

Book Review: Perfect Gift for yourself and others!!!!!!!! Summary: 5 Stars
I love these books. I purchased the 1st one (Egyptology) at Sam's Club a few years back, and thought it was the cutest thing to have around. I don't usually buy things for myself, but I fell in love with each and every one of them and everytime one came out, I'd buy one. Now I have the whole set by default. It would have been easier to buy the set package, but either I'm very happy with them. I also give them away as gifts!!!
