Book Review: A missed target.

One can point out many faults in this book but I will limit myself to one example.
Chapter five, segment "Fit before you buy" deals with having a try gun session before buying a $1,500 (2006 dollars here) gun.
Note to the author: A try gun session makes only sense once the shooter has mastered the fundamentals of consistent gun mounting, something that takes many months of hard practice to achieve. The fitting itself costs upwards of $500 and the custom stock is over $2,000. Consider the writer's recommendation to a new shooter to invest in all this before buying a $1,500 gun and you see why I can not recommend this book.
And another note to the author: Take any ten top level competition shooters and have them shoot random new guns out of the box. They will brake the same number of targets that they brake with their own custom fitted guns supplied by the companies that sponsor them. I used to shoot with Brian Ballard, the 1988 Olympian, who shot the finals in Double Trap with another competitor's gun.
Gun fit is important and there are good books that deal with the subject but this is not one of them. Missed low and behind.
