Book Reviews of The Outlaw Demon Wails (The Hollows, Book 6)Book Review: What's in a Name? Summary: 5 Stars
This is a fast-paced, action-packed book, full of demons, witches, vampires, weres and pixies, oh my! Al, a demon Rachel Morgan sent to demon jail, is back and he's pissed. Nothing like an angry demon coming after you to keep life interesting. With the help of her vampire roommate, Ivy and her pixie partner Jenks, she struggles to find a way to trap Al once and for all before he not only kills her, but everyone she cares about. Oh, and there are several other shocking surprises along the way.
This story is very well written and Ms. Harrison creates not only characters, but a world that is so fleshed out and vivid it seems almost plausible. It was an absolute joy to read and I devoured the entire book in just a couple of sittings. I highly recommend this book to one and all.
Book Review: Rachel's new twists Summary: 4 Stars
I thought that pacing of the plot development was well done. It was just fast enough to keep from being boring. It was well developed and thought out. It seems that Ms. Harrison put a lot of thought into the writing of this book. The answers that came out of this book had been developed over the first 5 books. Some I knew from book 1, but still the discoveries were done well. I cannot wait for the next book to see what develops next. I want more of the gargoyle and what he will do for or to Rachel.
My main compliment on this book is that there are next to NO TYPOS! If you read the first books you know what I mean. The Outlaw Demon Wails (Rachel Morgan, Book 6)
Book Review: Maybes its just me..... Summary: 3 Stars
I am very new to this series. I just discovered it last month and over 4 weeks, have read all 6 books for the first time.
When I picked up the first one, I thought: YES, FINALLY, ONE WITH A FRESH THEME AND GREAT PLOT!!!!! I loved the second and the third. THe fourth was ok and then the fifth was a little less then ok and then I came to this one.....
It was boring. I could no longer get into the story. I was more caught up in predicting where the author was going next because it was.....predictable. The charecters I had fallen in love with came across as wooden and stilted.
I feel really sorry for those that waited a year for this to come out. Oh, well, another series that didn't live up to its first potential. :(
Book Review: Back on track ... Way to go Kim! Summary: 5 Stars
Harrison's newest book made me forget any disappointments I may have had with her last novel (For a Few Demons More)! The plot was fast-paced and exciting to read. While Harrison didn't drop the earlier Rachel/Ivy blood balance plot line, this time it didn't overwhelm the action like it did in "Demons". The ending was unexpected but logical, and it opens a whole new set of plot opportunities while leaving us a few unfinished paths down which to continue including Kisten's murder, the pixies' short lifespan (I did miss Matalina this time!), the betrayal of Nick, and Anita's neverending feuds with Al and Trent. This was a thoroughly enjoyable read. I can't wait for the next one!
Book Review: Another great story by Kim Harrison Summary: 5 Stars
What I love about the Rachel Morgan series is that these books are just fun. They're fun to read -- the stories are great and the characters are, while fictional, people you want to know. Yes, even the vampires. The Outlaw Demon Wails provides more seemingly impossible tasks that Rachel has to overcome, and it does so in a way that wants you to keep turning the page. Oh, and Rachel reminds me of a few women I know...characteristics and all.
I'm not really sure if I would call myself the target market for this series, but I love it. I stumbled on the Rachel Morgan books just by browsing Amazon, and I was hooked with book 1. Keep them coming, Harrison!
