Book Reviews of The Outlaw Demon Wails (The Hollows, Book 6)

Book Review: Wow. Best of the series so far
Summary: 5 Stars

Talk about a page turner. This book grabs you from page one and you can't put it down until the end, leaving you wanting more. I just loved everything about it. Rachel starts to mature and realizes her self destructive behavior has to stop, and the whole icky Ivy sucking Rachel's blood thing is finally, mercifully resolved. Also, resolved, hopefully, the issue of her and Ivy sleeping together, which was uncomfortable reading in the prior books. I really enjoyed Rachel's relationship with her mother coming more to the forefront, and the new storyline about her real father and her ancestry. And Al, and Ceri and Trent. And Jenks--brave, protective, funny, buttinsky can't-keep-his mouth-shut lovable pixy. And a funny gargoyle. Really. Also like the addition of possible future love interest Marshall.

Great stuff, can't wait to read the next one.

Book Review: Our little Rachel's growing up...
Summary: 5 Stars

This is one of the best series in paranormal fiction. It's not full of camp or clichés or focused on a forbidden love; it's just a young witch growing up and finding her way in the world despite some formidable obstacles. There's depth and complexity here. Rachel doesn't always make the best decisions, but she often makes them for what she feels are the right reasons. She cares deeply about her family and friends, often to her own detriment. In this book, I finally got a real sense of why she dislikes Trent Kalamack so much -- before he seemed more of a nuisance, but here you really saw how cold and one-track-minded he could be. Her family secret was interesting and unexpected, and made a lot of sense. I think that's a situation that is going to work out really well in the long run. Rachel's maturing, and I love being along for the ride.

Book Review: Great addition to the series...
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a great addition to the Hollows series, probably the best as far as pacing and action go. There were very few, if any, spots were the action lagged, which made it hard for me to get the dishes and laundry done before they both overflowed. ;)

I don't want to post any spoilers, but will say that Rachel faced a lot of hard truths this time around, as well as worked through a lot of relationship issues - becoming closer to her mother and seeing her in a different light, coping with the death of Kisten, coming to an understanding with Ivy (however tentative), learning that it's okay to love, trust, and depend on her friends, and learning to accept herself as she is - warts and all. As much as her heart hurt in this book, it also healed, and it was a wonderful thing to see.

Looking forward to the next one. :)

Book Review: Wail The Night Away
Summary: 5 Stars

Loved it, but I guess you can tell from my 5 stars. Now! For MY reason. This is not one of those deep thinking book that tries to enlighten the reader on human philosophy or give you a glance within a society personality. A book that can cover pages and pages of the writer hypothesis into the subconscious, etc. If that is what you like to read, this book is not it. THANK GOODNESS!

This is a book that takes you away for a few hours if you're quick reader, or days if you like to read leisurely. The world of Rachel Morgan a witch and her best friends, a vampire name Ivy and Jinx a pixie. She is a very lovable individual who only wants to do the job she loves- bring in the bad guys. But her life gets out of control once more when she has to help those around her.

Book Review: Better
Summary: 4 Stars

I was very cautious about bying this book, since I was so dissapointed in the ending of Few Demons More. But the first four books of this series were very good, so I decided to give it a last try. And wasn't dissapointed. It took me some effort to get 'into' the story. Slow start: lot of talk about her surroundings, mourning, more about her relationship with Ivy, backgroundinfo, etc. But halfway some very interesting things start to happen. More intrigue about Trent, Rachel, her family-connections and demon-politics, which I loved. Don't expect much romance. This book did not left me with the feeling that I missed and ending. Your look on Rachel will be different after finishing this. I am looking forward to Harrisons next installment.
