Book Reviews of The Pact: A Love Story

Book Review: Courtesy of Teens Read Too
Summary: 5 Stars

Chris and Emily have been good friends since they were born. Their parents have always been friends, and they were destined to become a couple once they entered their teenage years. They are always together and are seemingly very in love.

Until Emily ends up dead, and Chris was the only other person there when she died.

What happens? Will the kids that always seemed so happy rip these families apart? Did Chris really kill Emily? What really happened the night of her death?

Too much cannot be said without giving away the ending of the story. This is another book from Jodi Picoult that makes you think. There are a few predicable scenes, but still enough twists and turns to keep the reader interested. A good read for someone who is curious about how lives that seem so perfect can change so fast.

Book Review: The Pact
Summary: 5 Stars

This book drew me in and you could see there would be some defining stories about Emily. I felt close to her. I had felt what she felt about the sex.Not always what you exspect and when it's over it brings on such a reaction they you can't stand the thought of it. Cris was always after sex but she felt he was like a brother. Then to get pregnant, no choice of her own, I totally blaim Cris. The worst part for me was when he was put in jail. I have agrophobia and the descriptions of what he felt, the smell, being locked up. I almost put the book down. I didn't and I was glad, it was excelent in every way. I really see why Emily thought she had no choice but get out of Cris' control. Their parents were silly and of cource they thought there children were better than all children ever born.I'm working down the list of her books.

Book Review: Couldnt put this one down!
Summary: 5 Stars

I started with Picoult on My Sister's Keeper which had me hooked and wanting more. I read a few of the others (Nineteen Minutes, Mercy) but didnt find the satisfaction that I did with Sister's Keeper, then I read about this one and immediatley wanted to read it! I couldnt put it down! I have to say that I was a little suprised with the ending, but I have come to expect that with this writer, but the story and the plot seemed "fresher" than the others that I have read that seemed to drag on with details. I loved seeing things from both sides of the families, and not really knowing who to feel for. I guess it captured a real life situation if you were a third party in an event like this. I really enjoyed the read, and think if you are going to read a Picoult book this should be on your list!

Book Review: touching and winsome
Summary: 5 Stars

This book really touched my heart. I loved the idea how the author made the story about two kids who grew up together and from the day Emily was born they were placed in the same bassinet up to when they turned teenagers they were inseparable. These two kids who are practically one person combined together has an outstanding relationship and bond with each other. They couldn't possibly live without the other. Towards the end while Chris was in the witness stand and he explained in detail how he feels toward Em, I thought the words that the author used about "being home" was heartfelting. While and after reading this book, I couldn't stop thinking about it and I couldn't help being pulled into the story. This book is a tear-jerker and enchanting.

Book Review: How Far for True Love?
Summary: 5 Stars

"The Pact" by Jodi Picoult is one of those books that you will never forget. Picoult points to what True Love should be about, along with examples of soulmates- how far would you go to make the one you love happy? At what point do you say, "Enough about what you want, what about what I want?"
This is a story about suicide vs. murder. It's a hard topic to discuss, but as Picoult often does- she flourishes with its descriptions and jumbles your mind - causing you to always second guess your original answers.
Picoult's story is wonderful. It has stayed with me for the past six months since I've read it. It's one of those books that you want others to read, but you don't want to lend it out at the chance of never seeing it again.
