Book Reviews of The Penderwicks on Gardam StreetBook Review: Where is Jeffrey? Summary: 4 Stars
This first half of this book was a little slow, but the second half was very exciting. We liked all the parts of the plot, Jane and Skye's trick, the Bugman, and the kids taking the battery. We thought that Mr. Pen was dating Iantha, but we were surprised when it turned out that he was thinking about a character in a book. But all is well that end's well. But what about Jeffrey and Skye/Jane. We are looking forward to the next Penderwicks book!
Book Review: The Penderwicks on Gardam Street Summary: 5 Stars
The Penderwicks on Gardam Street is a really good book. My eight year
old daughter read it and loved it. As soon as she started reading it she
could not stop. I read it and loved it too. We are really hoping there will be another Penderwicks book.
Book Review: funny and fast-paced story evolves for middle school readers. Summary: 5 Stars
Jeanne Birdsall's THE PENDERWICKS ON GARDAM STREET tells of sisters ready for adventure. Mr. Penderwick's sister has decided it's time for him to start dating, so it's time for the Save-Daddy Plan, a plot so zany that it makes many other problems of romance and mischief pale in comparison. A funny and fast-paced story evolves for middle school readers.
Book Review: Better than the first book! Summary: 5 Stars
I thoroughly enjoyed the first of the Penderwicks books, but Jeanne Birdsall's writing is even better in this second book. The characters are stronger and the adults believable. Here's a story with a functional family, able adults, gentle angst, and girls who are creative in the way that I was creative as a girl.
Book Review: Pitch Perfect Children's Classic Summary: 5 Stars
This is a pitch-perfect (instant) children's classic in the style of E. Nesbit, Ransome, or Eager. The 4 children are brilliantly realized and the story is captivating. Buy this (and the first one, about the Penderwick's summer vacation) for all the favorite children in your life.
