Book Reviews of The Pocket Parent

Book Review: Doesn't really tell me anything I didn't already know
Summary: 3 Stars

I bought this book based on good user reviews on Amazon with hopes that it could help me understand how to better communicate with my toddler. I pretty much read it at one sitting, found it too bulky to carry around with me, as many reviewers said they did, and really didn't learn anything I didn't already know.

I guess there comes a point that you just don't need books anymore. As a first time parent, I was really hoping for more.

Book Review: It could come in handy some day
Summary: 3 Stars

I thought it was good, it just wasn't what I thought I was looking for. I was looking for more help with the time-out knowledge but I am sure down the line and as my daughter gets older I will use this book often. I loved the section on Self esteem and how to help your child by rephrasing your words, could help so much in their self esteem. I am actually excited to use the methods in this book, I just don't need it right this minute.

Book Review: Perfect Parenting Companion
Summary: 5 Stars

I find this book to be immensely helpful with the everyday struggles I face as a parent. The authors give multiple strategies so I can find the ones that will suit my situation. Aside from the appropriate and helpful advice, the book's greatest selling point is how easy it is to use. It literally provides parenting problems with excellent solutions in accessible alphabetical order (in a convenient size to carry in your bag).

Book Review: Ok-not exactly the HG of parenting books
Summary: 2 Stars

Just an ok book-I like that you can look up what you need very easily except for having to read an entire book to find what your looking for-and they do have some useful tips but I think its just very very basic tips. Nothing groundbreaking. Im dealing with a toddler and various toddler-type issues and though they address them in the book, I still feel like I need more as the tips are just basic practical run of the mill.

Book Review: Best Toddler Resource
Summary: 5 Stars

This is the best toddler discipling resource i have seen. Most of the books that offer true discipline tips and advice are for older kids, and the ones for toddlers offer ways to keep from needing to use discipline, but if you're in a situation where you need to- they are no help. As a mom of a very active 2 and a half year old boy i found it priceless! It truly is like advice from an older neighbor who has been there!!!
