Book Reviews of The Read-Aloud Handbook: Sixth EditionBook Review: Love it! Summary: 5 Stars
This book gave me the "why" reading is important. Everyone knows they should read to their kids but after reading this and seeing the information about how that reading affects children later in life will really motivate you to make reading a habit.
I also appreciated the information about how the American school system is hindering children's reading and why their method doesn't work very well.
The book list in the back of the book is great!
Book Review: Good list, insulting to some readers Summary: 2 Stars
The reading list at the end of the book had good suggestions but, to get there, you had to read through all the political bashing by the author. I guess he thinks Christians and Republicans don't read to their kids. So NOT true. Instead of being a positive voice on reading, the author used the book as a soap box to bash conservatives. Not what I expected. The author was arrogant, insulting and rude. I'd reather read "Honey for a Child's Heart."
Book Review: This book created miracles for my handicapped boy Summary: 5 Stars
This book saved us from a lifetime of heartache. I read this book when my boy was very small. I did not know then that he was autistic, learning disabled, and hearing impaired. The school said he would never read. I homeschooled him using the knowledge I took from this book. I taught him to read by reading to him. Today he is in a Master's program for Library Science! Thank you Jim Trelease!

Book Review: perfect gift for soon-to-be parents Summary: 5 Stars
For years I have bought this book for every friend of mine that was expecting their first child. The book begins by discussing the value of reading to children from the womb on. The final third of the book is a treasury of great board books, picture books, chapter books, and so on. Anyone who is expecting their first child, or any parent really, should read this book.
