Book Review: Another "Must Read" for anyone who votes
Summary: 5 Stars
No book is perfect, but this book is close to it, given the limitatins on the time it took to write and the number of pages.
Benjamin is one of a half dozen men which contributed most to the development of this country. One can honestly say about him, that perhaps the independence movement would have failed without him. He is the one who got the French to be our ally, and blockade the British at Yorktown, thus forcing the Brits to surrender. This is particularly remarkable since the aid the French provided bankrupted France, which helped cause the French Revolution shortly thereafter. Jefferson sympathized with the French people and the French Revolution, but Washington wisely told us to "avoid entangling alliances", which Jefferson thought betrayed the French.
There were so many great people, and Benjamin Franklin was one of the greatest, and every American should read about him, as well as the rest of the Founding Fathers, and the process of developing the foundation of our nation. There are excellent books about the debates, compromises, etc. amongst the Founding Fathers, as well related books such as Common Sense by Thomas Paine, the Federalist Papers, etc.
