Book Reviews of The Rosedale DietBook Review: Rosedale Diet- Good sense (but inconsiderately American) Summary: 4 Stars
The book describing the diet and the rationale for the diet is easy to read and to follow. The diet itself is effective but as a vegetarian (Indian food mainly) alternative approaches and examples would be useful. I find I have to compromise my vegetarianism to meet the requirements of the diet. Non-the-less applying the principles embedded in the description, explanation and examples of recipes is proving very effective.
An irritation for me is the use of non-metric measures; this just makes things difficult. It also causes some careful consideration about choice of fish when several of the types used are not readily available in South Australia. In respect of brand specific substances like 'Manna From Heaven Bread' it would be of value to explain their characteristics/formula/why used so that we could find a substitute. However I have made a good start, am a week into the diet and feeling healthier for it.
Please communicate with the author and ask him to write a supplement for vegetarians.
Book Review: It Works! Summary: 5 Stars
I'm a physically, active male over the age of 50 and I had reached the point that it seemed like skipping meals was the only effective means to not gaining weight. And while I could maintain I was often hungry and it was difficult to lose weight. Since practicing the Rosedale diet over about 3 weeks and I admit probably only holding to it about 75% of the time, I have lost 5 pounds. Also, I'm not hungry and I don't feel the urge to eat sweets like I once did. The bonus to the Rosedale Diet is not just the weight loss potential but the many health gains that you'll get on the inside of your body. Eating high fat (but the right kind of fat) may be counterintuitive to what we've been bombarded with by the media but for me it works.
Book Review: Saved my Life Summary: 5 Stars
I recently had a heart attack from clogged arteries at age 55 with a cholesterol level of 80 after being on statin drugs for over a year! A pretty big incentive to change my lifestyle and look for other answers. Dr. Rosedale is right - cholesterol does not cause heart attacks. I started on the Rosedale Diet within two weeks of the heart attack, and I have lost 22 pounds within six months, have had no heart pain whatsoever, and feel healthier than ever with blood results that prove it. It was such a relief to find out that there were other solutions than just drugs to recover from a heart attack. I have found the Rosedale Diet easy to adjust to and to stay on, and I plan to LIVE on it from now on.
Book Review: Great diet for those who need to understand and remedy food cravings Summary: 5 Stars
I discovered this diet book through a magazine article a couple of years ago. When I finally got motivated to actually follow the advice of this M.D., it was astounding at how easy it was - the hunger switch is turned off like he says. For those who have had the yo-yo syndrome, here's a diet that actually works and yes, it was always about the hormones!
Book Review: If all other diets have failed, try this one. Summary: 3 Stars
The Rosedale Diet Book
This diet works. It is the only book that makes it clear that excess protein can be turned into sugar and then into fat. Like all good things, it comes with work, but when all else has failed, this one will work for you.
